As Lee Kang-in's (24) future remains unclear, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) may not find a clear replacement even if they sell him.
French media 'Sport' reported on the 25th (Korean time), "Lee Kang-in's future is still shrouded in uncertainty. There are no concrete transfer offers yet," adding, "Moreover, PSG is struggling to secure alternative resources."
Lee Kang-in donned the PSG jersey in the summer of 2023. He was recognized for his versatility, playing not only as a winger but also fulfilling roles as a central midfielder and a false nine. He had quite a few opportunities to play through the early part of the 2024-2025 season. However, after the winter transfer market earlier this year, his position has narrowed, pushing him to the bench.
The prominent French newspaper 'L'Équipe' explained, "The background behind Lee Kang-in's reduced playing opportunities is the arrival of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia." The rapid development of Desiree Doué and Bradley Barcola also impacted Lee Kang-in's position.
Lee Kang-in was thoroughly sidelined. Even after PSG secured early victory in Ligue 1, he was unable to step onto the pitch during the final match. He also did not participate in the French Cup, UEFA Champions League final, or the Club World Cup final.
Nonetheless, PSG achieved the treble.
At one point, transfer rumors surrounding Lee Kang-in were intense. It is known that Napoli, AC Milan, Arsenal, Manchester United, and Crystal Palace showed interest in acquiring him, but recent reports related to this have diminished. There isn't a significant reason for this.
French 'RMC Sports' hinted, "PSG is not forcing a transfer. Lee Kang-in is also satisfied with life in Paris." However, it noted that the situation could change at any time.
Lee Kang-in is contracted with PSG until June 2028. The club is reportedly seeking a transfer fee of at least 30 million euros (approximately 48.5 billion won) for him.
