The cancellation of the transfer is 'official.' Turkey's Beşiktaş announced that it has given up on acquiring Kyle Walker-Peters (28).

Beşiktaş officially stated on its club website on the 17th (Korean time), 'We inform you that the entry of professional football player Kyle Walker-Peters, who was previously invited to undergo a medical test in Istanbul following a basic transfer agreement, has been postponed.'

The transfer negotiations themselves have all been rendered null and void. Beşiktaş explained, 'Walker-Peters contacted us today to request a postponement. Therefore, our club has canceled his transfer. The club is continuing with the transfer process in accordance with existing policies. We publicly inform you of this situation.'

Beşiktaş has finally lost patience. Turkey's journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu noted on the same day, 'Walker-Peters has not yet signed a contract with Beşiktaş. Beşiktaş is waiting for communication from his side and hopes to resolve this issue today,' but shortly after added that Beşiktaş has ultimately given up on acquiring Walker-Peters.

Walker-Peters' delayed response seems to be the decisive reason. Ryan Taylor, a reporter from the UK’s Daily Mail, reported, 'Walker-Peters was supposed to undergo a medical examination in Istanbul, but he requested additional time. The transfer to Beşiktaş is currently considered impossible.'

Walker-Peters is a side defender who also played for the England national team. He developed in the Tottenham youth team and made his senior debut in the 2017-2018 season. At one point, he was expected to be the successor to Kyle Walker.

However, Walker-Peters struggled to secure playing time at Tottenham and was loaned to Southampton in the summer of 2019. Showing good form as a starting resource, he successfully made a permanent transfer and was responsible for Southampton's right defense until last season.

The partnership between Southampton and Walker-Peters came to an end this summer. Southampton was relegated to the Championship (second division) after an unprecedented struggle, winning only 2 matches in 38 league games, and Walker-Peters left the team without re-signing.

Becoming a free agent, Walker-Peters garnered significant interest. His former team Tottenham, which needed homegrown players, also considered acquiring him.

In the meantime, as Tottenham withdrew, Beşiktaş emerged as a likely destination. In fact, Walker-Peters completed personal agreements with Beşiktaş, and a schedule for the medical test was set.

However, at the last moment, Walker-Peters did not fly to Turkey. He continued to request postponements from Beşiktaş, and ultimately, Beşiktaş decided to withdraw from the acquisition.

Walker-Peters seems to have weighed different options until the end with Beşiktaş. According to Sabuncuoglu, he received an official offer from an English club. With the Beşiktaş transfer having fallen through, it seems likely that he will continue his career in England.

Everton has been mentioned as a candidate for Walker-Peters' next destination. 'Football Insider' reported, 'As of last month, both Everton and West Ham showed interest in Walker-Peters. While Everton seemed to be poised to sign Kenny Tete as a free agent, they missed out. Given that they have struggled with right defense for several years, it makes sense for manager David Moyes to acquire Walker-Peters.'
