The Korean Sport & Olympic Committee (KSOC) is actively operating a mobile sports program called the Sports Bus, which directly visits rural areas to provide opportunities for youth and local residents.
The Sports Bus project, which began in 2009, aims to provide various sports participation opportunities to youth in rural areas who are in the sports blind spot, instilling dreams and hopes while laying the foundation for lifelong sports activities, and is being carried out with financial support from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation (KSPO).
The Sports Bus program consists of ▲ sports experience zones, ▲ school sports days, and ▲ various side events. This year, it is scheduled to operate a total of 30 times nationwide, starting with the first event at Ancheon Middle School in Jeonbuk Jin'an County in May.
Starting from July when the summer vacation begins, a full schedule will follow. On July 3rd, it will start at the Seobyeok Branch of Chunyang Middle School in Gyeongsangbuk-do Bonghwa, continuing at elementary, middle, and high schools and local children's centers in Gangwon Pyeongchang, Jeonnam Goheung, Jeonbuk Hwangsan, Chungnam Boryung, Gyeongbuk Yeongdeok, Chungnam Nonsan, and other locations.
The Korean Sport & Olympic Committee (KSOC) aims to create a healthy leisure culture by providing various sports activities to youth in rural areas as well as multicultural families, thereby creating an environment where everyone can enjoy sports.
Yoo Seong-min stated, "I believe that the Sports Bus can help the physical and emotional growth of youth. I hope they can naturally learn the value of sports while experiencing various programs."
