Son Heung-min (33, Tottenham) remains at the center of transfer rumors, with Tottenham's new head coach Thomas Frank expected to use him in the UEFA Super Cup starting lineup.
Under Frank's leadership, Tottenham will clash with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the UEFA Super Cup on the 14th of next month (Korea time) at the Stadio Friuli in Udine, Italy. It will be the new manager's first official match and an important stage for trophy acquisition.
The British media outlet "Football London" noted, "While Son Heung-min's future is uncertain, as of now, the captain, who has fully recovered from his injury, is expected to start based on his experience in the left wing position."
Son Heung-min led Tottenham as captain last season despite injuries and fluctuating conditions. As the new season approaches, interest from Saudi Arabian clubs continues, but local media expect that he is likely to play a central role in the first match under Frank's management.
"Football London" mentioned Gibbs White (Nottingham Forest) as a strong candidate to join Son Heung-min in the attacking second line, as well as Brennan Johnson, who was the team's top scorer last season. Johnson is a player that Frank wanted to bring in during his time at Brentford.
Frank is expected to give high marks to Johnson's ability to contribute defensively and develop counterattacks, "Football London" explained.
Additionally, the media projected Dominic Solanke as the starting striker, while the midfield combination of Rodrigo Bentancur and Lucas Bergvall is likely. The defensive line is expected to consist of Pedro Porro, Cristian Romero, Mickey van de Ven, and Destiny Udogie, with Italian Guilleromo Vicario as the goalkeeper.
PSG recently completed their Club World Cup schedule in New York and will enter a three-week break. They will resume training just before the Super Cup.
"Football London" emphasized, "To win against PSG, the Champions League titleholders and this season's Club World Cup contenders, Tottenham must field their best squad."
