Manchester United (Man U) has restricted the use of the training ground for five players who requested transfers, effectively issuing a 'dismissal order.'
According to the British outlet TalkSport, on the 15th (Korea time), the Man U club notified Antony, Alejandro Garnacho, Tyrell Malacia, Marcus Rashford, and Jadon Sancho not to participate in team training.
The article states that these five players have expressed their intention to transfer under the management of head coach Ruben Amorim. They have been granted time to pursue transfers during the summer break.
However, the Man U club has begun to limit the training times for these five players at the Carrington training ground. They have been informed that they may only enter the training ground after team training ends at 5 p.m.
Additionally, they can receive medical facilities and rehabilitation center services, as well as remote support, but they are prohibited from training with the existing players. During the weekend, while the team plays a preseason match against Leeds United in Stockholm, Sweden, they must conduct separate training.
Rashford has accepted this Man U club's proposal. Rashford, who has been with Man U since he was 7 years old, is a symbolic player with 426 matches and 138 goals, but he has no future under coach Amorim. His jersey number 10 has already been transferred to the newly signed Matheus Cunha.
Rashford's potential transfer to Barcelona is being discussed. Barcelona initially targeted Nico Williams as a priority, but as Williams has re-signed with Athletic Bilbao, there are speculations that they could loan Rashford.
Garnacho has also become a target for dismissal following remarks suggesting a transfer after losing to Tottenham in the UEFA Europa League final. Furthermore, a photo surfaced during his vacation showing him in an Aston Villa uniform with Rashford's name, leading to criticism from fans and creating an irreparable situation.
Sancho experienced winning the UEFA Conference League while on loan at Chelsea last season. Though he has returned to Man U, he is no longer considered a player who can play for Man U. Head coach José Taxes's (taxes) Fenerbahçe (Turkey) has shown interest in Sancho.
Antony transferred to Man U from Ajax in 2022 for a total fee of €100 million (about 161.2 billion won). However, he scored only 12 goals (5 assists) in 96 matches, falling short of expectations. Last season, he showed signs of revival on loan at Real Betis, scoring 9 goals and providing 5 assists.
Malacia was acquired from Feyenoord in 2022 for £15 million, the same year as Antony. However, due to frequent injuries, he couldn't secure playing opportunities and was loaned to PSV Eindhoven during the second half of last season.
During his first nine months as head coach, Amorim struggled with poor performance and internal discord, leading to leadership controversies. Nonetheless, he has maintained the 3-5-2 formation from his time at Sporting CP. So far, he has only signed Cunha, raising concerns that squad strengthening may be delayed as long as the targeted players for dismissal remain.
