Actor Tom Holland (29) revealed his deep affection for Son Heung-min (33, Tottenham).
The British actor Holland expressed his unique fandom for Son Heung-min and Tottenham through an interview published on the 12th (Korean time) by 'GQ Magazine.'
Holland recalled the UEFA Europa League final (Tottenham won 1-0) in May. He said, 'I was filming a movie directed by Christopher Nolan in LA. I couldn't use my phone, so I kept asking the staff about the score. I was able to watch the end of the game during a 10-minute lunch break and felt energized after seeing the celebration scene, and then I returned to filming.'
Regarding Son Heung-min's trophy acquisition, he praised, 'I was really happy to finally see him lift the trophy for the club. He is a world-class player who can play on any team. It was impressive that such a player dedicated himself to Tottenham.'
He also mentioned Harry Kane (Bayern Munich). Holland said, 'I liked seeing Kane lift the trophy at Bayern Munich. However, it was even more special that Son Heung-min ended the season with a victory in North London. Son Heung-min's victory must have also meant a lot to Kane.'
Holland's connection with Son Heung-min began in 2021. After Son Heung-min showcased the 'Spider-Man celebration,' the two met in person to greet each other. Holland revealed that both he and his brother are Tottenham fans and called Son Heung-min 'his favorite player.' He also performed Son Heung-min's signature 'clicking celebration.'
His support for Son Heung-min and Tottenham has been consistent in the past. In an interview in June 2023, he publicly stated, 'My favorite player is Son Heung-min.'
In this interview, Holland added that he fully supports Son Heung-min's future choices. He emphasized, 'No matter what decision Son Heung-min makes, he is an eternal Tottenham legend.'
Son Heung-min and Tottenham have one year left on their contract. There are speculations that their nearly 10-year partnership may end this summer. The British media 'Football London' forecasted, 'This summer is the period with the highest possibility of Son Heung-min's transfer.'
Saudi Arabia has emerged as one of the likely destinations. Ben Jacobs of 'Talk Sport' reported that 'Al Ahli, Al Nassr, and Al Qadisiyah plan to offer a transfer fee of 40 million euros (approximately 64.4 billion won) and contract terms totaling 90 million euros (approximately 145 billion won) over three years for the acquisition of Son Heung-min.'
In the past, Son Heung-min denied moving to Saudi Arabia, but recently he left the door open. After last month's A-match against Kuwait, he said, 'I am also curious. Let's see what happens.'
Currently, Son Heung-min has returned to the team after finishing his summer vacation. He joined later than other players. Discussions about his future are expected to take place through conversations with newly appointed coach Thomas Frank.
The remaining period before the pre-season Asia tour scheduled for the end of July is expected to be a crucial turning point for both Son Heung-min and Tottenham.
