The South Korean men's national soccer team continued training in Seongnam two days before their final match against Japan.
The team led by Hong Myung-bo trained for about 1 hour and 30 minutes at the Seongnam Sports Complex starting at 6 p.m. According to the Korea Football Association, the training began with physical coordination, and the players were then divided into offensive and defensive groups based on their positions for tactical training. The session concluded with set-piece drills.
Hong Myung-bo's team is on a winning streak, having achieved two consecutive victories with a 3-0 win against China on the 7th and a 2-0 win against Hong Kong on the 11th. If they achieve at least a draw in their upcoming match against Japan on the 15th, they will effectively secure the championship title at the 2025 East Asian Football Federation (EAFF) E-1 Championship.
Despite the ongoing heatwave, the players are approaching their training with unwavering focus. Even in conditions where the felt temperature exceeds 35℃, they moved without caution, repeating tactical training with a sense of urgency both in offense and defense, akin to a real-match atmosphere.
The team heightened their conditioning through morning training on the previous day, the 12th. At that time, they were divided into recovery and regular training groups based on their potential participation in the match, but on this day, everyone increased their focus to intensify preparations for the match against Japan.
The team will conduct their final tactical review on the 14th before competing in the tournament's final match against Japan on the 15th. Attention will be focused on whether they can maintain their momentum from two consecutive victories.
