On the 10th, the Sports Safety Foundation held the '2025 Night of Sports Safety' at the Olympic Hall of the Seoul Olympic Park Hotel to celebrate its 15th anniversary. This event was an opportunity to reflect on the foundation's achievements over the past 15 years in the field of sports and to declare its vision to leap forward as a national sports safety special corporation in order to create an environment where all citizens can safely enjoy sports.
The event was attended by about 220 major figures from government, the sports community, academia, and the private sector, including Vice Minister Jang Mi-ran of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Chairperson Yang Yoon-jun of the Korea Anti-Doping Agency, Chief Executive Officer Shin Chi-yong of Korea Sports Industry Company (KSPO&CO), President Choi Kwan-yong of the Korean Society of Sport, and Secretary General Kim Na-mi of the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee (KSOC), who expressed their support for the foundation's future strategy.
The event began with a welcoming speech by Chairman Park Jang-soon. He noted, "The Sports Safety Foundation has been a strong safety partner in the sports field for the past 15 years through insurance projects, safety education, and on-site inspections," adding, "Now we will leap to become a national special corporation beyond the private sector and establish a more systematic and sustainable safety management system."
Next, Vice Minister Jang Mi-ran said in her congratulatory speech, "Sports not only provide health to the public but also great joy, but safety must be a prerequisite for that," and evaluated that "The Sports Safety Foundation has played an important role in raising safety levels at sports sites nationwide through various activities such as insurance projects, education, and manual development." Vice Minister Jang also emphasized, "The foundation's role will grow even more in the future, and the ministry will support it as a strong partner to help the foundation grow into a key institution."
The event was followed by a screening of a video that contained the foundation's future vision and strategy. The video featured policy experts presenting the current institutional limitations and directions for improvement, while leaders in the sports community, including President Yoo Seong-min of the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee (KSOC) and Chairperson Jeong Jin-wan of the Korea Paralympic Committee (KPC), emphasized the need to expand the foundation's role.
In addition, during the award ceremony to commemorate the 15th anniversary, commendations were presented to individuals who contributed to the dissemination of sports safety culture. The winners included the corporations Dong-A Otsuka (corporate sector), Commissioner Ahn Kyung-jun and Director General Lee Dohyun of Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors FC (safety management sector), Changwon City Park Golf Association and Gomdori Ski Snowboard (insurance project sector), and Hand Min-ki, head of the foundation's management strategy department, who received the foundation staff award. Following that, a colorful program including the appointment ceremony of the new mascot 'Sei-Poo', congratulatory performances, and a lucky draw was prepared, receiving a great response from attendees.
At the end of the event, leaders from various sports fields and on-site personnel united in a performance titled 'The Light of Safety, and Our Commitment', sharing a collective will to create an environment where all citizens can safely enjoy sports.
Meanwhile, the foundation plans to continue focusing on core projects such as sports insurance services, safety education and inspections, and safety research, and will prepare a safety information system to establish a nationwide safety management system, further enhancing the safety level of the domestic sports environment, including sports events.
