SSG and Hanwha fans were happy. Backed by the future of the team, Choi Yun-seok (SSG) and Han Ji-yun (Hanwha) led the Northern League All-Stars to victory in the Futures League All-Star Game.
The Northern League All-Stars, led by Manager Lee Dae-jin, which includes the Hanwha Eagles, SSG Landers, LG Twins, Doosan Bears, and Goyang Heroes, defeated the Southern League All-Stars, managed by Park Chi-wang, consisting of Sangmu, KT Wiz, Samsung Lions, NC Dinos, Lotte Giants, and KIA Tigers, 4-2 in the 2025 KBO Futures All-Star Game held at Hanwha Life Eagles Park in Daejeon on the 11th.
The Northern League All-Stars avenged last year's 5-9 defeat, tasting victory in the All-Star Game for the first time in two years since 2023.
Assigned as the home team, the Northern League All-Stars submitted a roster consisting of Son Yong-jun (shortstop, LG), Lee Min-jae (center fielder, Hanwha), Choi Woo-hyuk (left fielder, Doosan), Heo In-seo (catcher, Hanwha), Choi Yun-seok (third baseman, SSG), Han Ji-yun (designated hitter, Hanwha), Yang Hyun-jong (first baseman, Goyang), Lee Seung-min (right fielder, SSG), and Kim Jun-sang (second baseman, Doosan). The starting pitcher was Kim Jong-woon (LG).
In response, the Southern League All-Stars comprised Ryu Hyun-in (second baseman, Sangmu), Kim Byeong-jun (center fielder, KT), Yoon Jun-ho (catcher, Sangmu), Lee Chang-yong (first baseman, Samsung), Kim Jae-sang (shortstop, Sangmu), Kim Dong-hyun (left fielder, Lotte), Jung Hyun-chang (third baseman, NC), Lee Seung-hyun (designated hitter, KT), and Park Heon (right fielder, KIA) in their starting lineup. The starting pitcher was Kang Geon (KT).
The first point went to the Southern League All-Stars. In the top of the first, after one out, Kim Byeong-jun reached second base due to a walk and a wild pitch. While Yoon Jun-ho, at bat, ended with a fly out to right field, Lee Chang-yong hit a one-RBI single to right, breaking the scoreless tie.
The Southern League All-Stars had another chance to extend their lead in the bottom of the second with one out, as Lee Seung-hyun's hit put them in position. However, Park Heon's single to right resulted in Lee Seung-hyun, trying to advance from second to third base, being tagged out by right fielder Lee Seung-min's strong throw. After that, with runners on first and second from Ryu Hyun-in's single, Kim Byeong-jun ended the inning with a grounder to the pitcher.
After missing a 1, 2 base opportunity with two outs in the bottom of the second, the Northern League All-Stars launched a counterattack in the bottom of the third. Lead-off batter Kim Jun-sang walked, and Son Yong-jun got a single to left, setting up a first and third situation. After Son Yong-jun stole second base, Heo In-seo loaded the bases with a walk, and Choi Yun-seok hit a two-RBI go-ahead single, followed by Han Ji-yun's two-RBI double, extending their lead.
The Southern League All-Stars did not back down. In the top of the fourth, after one out, Jung Hyun-chang hit an infield single and, taking advantage of a pick-off error by the pitcher, stepped on second base. In the ensuing play, while Park Heon's infield single led to a home throw error by the pitcher, Jung Hyun-chang scored, but that was as far as the rally went.
The Northern League All-Stars' pitching staff saw starting pitcher Kim Jong-woon leave after one inning with one earned run. He was followed by Kim Han-jung (1 inning, no runs), Park Si-won (1 inning, no runs), Jung Se-young (⅔ inning, one earned run, unearned), Park Yeon-jun (1⅓ innings, no runs), Lim Jin-muk (1 inning, no runs), Won Jong-hyeok (1 inning, no runs), Kim Woong (1 inning, no runs), and Han Ji-heon (1 inning, no runs).
Southern League All-Stars starter Kang Geon showcased a perfect performance with 2 innings, allowing one hit, one walk, and striking out six without conceding any runs. Following him were Kim Dae-ho (⅔ inning, two earned runs), Kim Jun-won (0 inning, two earned runs), Noh Jae-won (1⅓ innings, no runs), Lee Dohyun (1 inning, no runs), Jung Min-seong (1 inning, no runs), Hong Seung-won (1 inning, no runs), Lee Young-jae (⅔ inning, no runs), and Kim Jae-won (⅓ inning, no runs).
