The 2025 KBO Futures All-Star Game's pitcher and batter have been announced.
The Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) stated, "Daejeon's Mayor Lee Jang-woo will serve as the pitcher in the 'KBO All-Star Friday' Futures All-Star Game to be held at Daejeon Hanwha Life Baseball Park on the 11th, and the batter will be the city's mascot, Ggumdori."
Mayor Lee Jang-woo of Daejeon threw the first pitch to commemorate the opening of the new stadium on May 7th, and that day, the Hanwha Eagles achieved a meaningful victory with their 9th consecutive win in 20 years.
Additionally, the Ggumdori merchandise presented this year through collaboration between Daejeon City and the Hanwha Eagles has gained explosive popularity, showcasing the city's identity and passion for baseball.
Daejeon City is hoping that this KBO All-Star Game, the first to be held in Daejeon in 13 years, will revitalize the local economy and that the Hanwha Eagles' new stadium, Daejeon Hanwha Life Baseball Park, known for its long-standing baseball fan base, will establish itself as a new landmark representing the city.
The KBO and Daejeon City will invite 300 amateur baseball players from Daejeon City and individuals from vulnerable groups to the Futures All-Star Game with the aim of providing baseball viewing opportunities to various social strata and expanding the base of baseball.
Meanwhile, at this Futures All-Star Game, a mixed choir, 'Daejeon Art Choir,' composed of local youth vocalists under the age of 39, will sing the national anthem to mark the beginning of the game.
The Daejeon Art Choir was founded in April 2025 to expand opportunities for communication between generations and cultural enjoyment based on a broad repertoire ranging from classical to popular music.
