Kim Min-jae (29, Bayern Munich) has emerged as a potential transfer target for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), the club of his 'Korean national team junior' Lee Kang-in (24).
Italian media Napoli Today reported on the 8th (Korea time) that "another key player in Napoli's Scudetto win (Kim Min-jae) may reunite with Kvaratskhelia at PSG."
Kim Min-jae is a member of Napoli's Serie A championship team for the 2022-2023 season. Due to his performance at that time, he transferred to the prestigious German club Bayern after the season.
After only two seasons with the team, Kim Min-jae was placed on Bayern's release list. The price of his dedication is 'sale.'
Despite an Achilles injury last season, Kim Min-jae continued to compete. From October, he struggled without proper recovery time and consistently appeared as a starter. At that time, Bayern's defense suffered a significant blow due to the simultaneous departures of Dayot Upamecano, Alphonso Davies, and Hiroki Ito. Even though Kim Min-jae was not in perfect condition, he had to start every match. This accumulation of fatigue led to a decline in performance. He had to endure criticism from fans due to moments where he directly contributed to conceded goals in important stages like the UEFA Champions League.
Bayern ultimately categorized Kim Min-jae as a sellable asset, stating that "if it brings in money, he could be sent away this summer."
"Sky Sports" reporter Florian Plettenberg noted that "Bayern plans to negotiate if a concrete offer for Kim Min-jae comes in." German media Merkur also stated, "Bayern has set a transfer fee of €50 million (approximately 80 billion won) for Kim Min-jae."
It is reported that no club has officially made an offer to Kim Min-jae yet.
In this situation, PSG has begun to take action. Napoli Today reported, "PSG is interested in acquiring Kim Min-jae. There is a possibility that he will reunite with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (PSG), with whom he played in Napoli."
According to French media Foot Mercato, PSG's Director General Luis Campos met with Kim Min-jae's camp this week in Paris. PSG is trying to assess Kim Min-jae's intentions and transfer conditions. Although no official offer has been made to Bayern yet, PSG is internally reviewing the acquisition of Kim Min-jae.
Even if Kim Min-jae remains at Bayern, the situation is not easy. German media Bild predicts that "the addition of Jonathan Tah will further narrow Kim Min-jae's position."
