The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup quarterfinals will feature a match between Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain. However, the much-anticipated starting match-up between Kim Min-jae and Lee Kang-in didn't materialize. Both players will start the match on the bench.
Bayern and PSG announced their starting lineups ahead of the quarterfinal match scheduled for the 6th at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, U.S. time.
Kim Min-jae made the bench for Bayern, and Lee Kang-in is also waiting to come off the bench for PSG.
Kim Min-jae has been sidelined since April due to Achilles tendonitis, but he returned to the roster after extensive rehabilitation ahead of the Club World Cup.
He has been gradually increasing his training intensity after combining light jogging and therapy at the tournament site, but since he is not yet at 100% fitness, the decision was made for him to start on the bench rather than in the starting lineup.
The void left by Kim Min-jae's injury will be filled by Upamecano and Jonathan Tah.
Especially ahead of this tournament, Tah, who was signed recently, is not yet perfectly in sync with Bayern's defense, so the key will be how well the combination with Upamecano can withstand PSG's powerful attack.
Bayern's lineup includes Harry Kane, Michael Olise, Kingsley Coman, Jamal Musiala, Joshua Kimmich, Konrad Laimer, Jošip Stanišić, and Manuel Neuer.
On the other hand, Lee Kang-in was also excluded from the starting lineup. Lee Kang-in has fallen to the bench and rotation member since the second half of the 2024-2025 season.
PSG's attack features Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Désiré Doué, and Bradley Barcola. The midfield consists of Fabian Ruiz, Vitinha, and João Neves. The back four is composed of defenders Nuno Mendes, Marquinhos, Willian Pacho, and Achraf Hakimi, with goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
