YouTuber Ban-zu (35, Fighter 100), known as the '2 million YouTuber,' is keeping his promise to delete his channel. There is a mood of applause from subscribers at Ban-zu's decision.
YouTuber Ban-zu, who gathered over 2 million subscribers with content capturing his daily life, will delete his channel on the 7th. This is to fulfill a promise he made after losing to Yun Hyung-bin (46, FREE) in the special match of the Gupne ROAD FC 073 event on June 28.
A video titled 'Last video' was uploaded on Ban-zu's channel, lasting 1 minute and 47 seconds. He left a message for his subscribers who have shown interest in him, saying, 'Thank you for everything.'
He explained the reason for shutting down his channel, saying, 'Hello, this is Ban-zu. This video is expected to be the last video on my channel. Many existing subscribers may not know the full story behind this.'
It was a long-awaited duel between Ban-zu and Yun Hyung-bin that had been over 6 months in the making. Ban-zu made the request for a match at the end of last year, and it was confirmed on March 16. In fact, there was no reason for Yun Hyung-bin to accept Ban-zu's challenge. Being older and considering his family, he had no desire to fight anymore. Thus, Yun Hyung-bin set conditions to ensure that Ban-zu was genuinely interested in fighting, rather than just seeking recognition. The condition was the deletion of Ban-zu's '2 million channel.'
On the 28th, a special event match -76kg was held at the Jangchung Gymnasium as part of the Gupne ROAD FC 073 competition. Ban-zu lost by TKO to Yun Hyung-bin just 1 minute and 42 seconds into the first round. He fell after a counter and was overwhelmed by ground-and-pound. He said he prepared diligently and had built his confidence, but was defeated in one hit.
Consequently, interest turned to Ban-zu's 'pledge.' In fact, it is not an easy decision to take down a channel with 2 million subscribers. Even if recent video reactions have been lukewarm, it is a channel with a hardworking collection of content.
After winning the match against Ban-zu, Yun Hyung-bin said, 'I wanted to win so badly. Perhaps that wish has come true. I know Ban-zu worked very hard to prepare. I also worked hard to ensure I wouldn't lose. I'm glad a good result came out.' When asked by comedian Oh In-taek, who hosted the event, whether he would delete the channel, he replied, 'Deleting it seems a bit much. We will discuss it slowly together.' However, Ban-zu has determined to keep his promise.
Subscribers commented in support, saying things like, 'The man who kept promises the best in YouTube history,' 'Ban-zu's choice was the wisest among those he has made,' 'I've never seen someone actually delete their channel,' 'I support your promise-keeping. I hope you return with a new channel and wish you success,' and 'I can feel the sincerity and authenticity.'
There were further reactions such as, 'Keeping a promise is a really tough decision for a YouTuber. Regardless of whether you can recreate or not, this in itself is truly remarkable,' 'He is a real man... You cannot find someone like this in this era... May you thrive more...' and 'No matter how successful or unsuccessful, this channel was a person's life and everything. It’s unfortunate.'
Ban-zu stated, 'What I really dreamed of while exercising was to step onto the stage of ROAD FC. Fortunately, I got the opportunity to get on that stage,' adding, 'The match with (Yun) Hyung-bin, whom I admired for a long time, has been established. The condition for this match to take place was that the loser deletes their channel. I accepted that, and we fought on June 23 at ROAD FC 073, and (taking a deep breath) I lost. Since I risked everything, I am now going to keep that pledge.'
