The Kukkiwon World Taekwondo Academy (WTA) has started the '2025 Foreign International Taekwondo Instructor Training' (hereafter referred to as training).
This training (levels 1, 2, and 3), which will take place from 4th to 11th at the Kukkiwon Central Training Hall, has 117 participants from 25 countries (12 in Asia, 7 in Europe, 4 in the Pan-American region, 1 in Africa, and 1 in Oceania).
The WTA is conducting foreign international taekwondo instructor training (levels 1, 2, and 3) to cultivate instructors with specialized knowledge of taekwondo and personal qualities and to spread standardized techniques.
Starting from this year's training, there will be various changes, including separating the previously integrated levels 1 and 2 from level 3 to provide tailored education according to levels, and supporting subtitles in the respective languages of countries during theoretical classes to enhance the learning abilities of the trainees.
The training will start with an opening ceremony on the 4th and will be conducted for 7 days, dividing into level 1 and 2 [△ Taekwondo teaching methods △ Taekwondo spirit △ Taekwondo instructing methods (adults) △ Poomsae (colored belts, black belts) △ Sparring △ Self-defense] and level 3 [△ Taekwondo spirit and history △ Character education △ Taekwondo judging regulations △ Basic movements △ Poomsae (colored belts, black belts) △ Demonstration △ Sparring △ Self-defense △ Breaking].
The level 1 and 2 courses are targeted at those with a rank of 6th dan or higher, focusing on developing the capabilities of frontline instructors with an emphasis on training in taekwondo teaching methods.
Kukkiwon CEO Lee Dong-seop noted, "I hope that this newly improved training will serve as a time to reflect once again on the basic mindset and attitude of taekwondo instructors," and urged those involved to approach the training with a sense of responsibility for leading the development of taekwondo.
Meanwhile, the WTA plans to conduct a self-defense seminar targeting foreigners on July 12 following the '2025 Foreign International Taekwondo Instructor Training.'
