In the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup Round of 16, Al Hilal, known as the 'wealthy Saudi Arabian club', defeated Manchester City to advance to the quarterfinals and will award its players and coaching staff over 23 billion won in bonuses.
On Feb. 2 (local time), the soccer media outlet OneFootball noted, 'After Al Hilal defeated Manchester City and advanced to the Club World Cup quarterfinals, there has been curiosity about the bonus amount given to the players,' and reported that Ahmed Alqarni, a member of the Saudi Arabian Sports Media Association and a journalist at Asharq Al-Awsat, revealed the bonus amount.
According to Alqarni, the victory bonus given to each player for defeating Manchester City was 2 million riyals (approximately 725 million won).
Including the 26 players participating in the tournament and the 6 coaching staff members, the total bonus amount is estimated to reach 64 million riyals (approximately 23.2 billion won).
Al Hilal won 4-3 against Manchester City after a grueling 120 minutes in the Club World Cup Round of 16, held at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida, on the 1st.
After the match, Chairman Fahd bin Nafel released a video of himself visiting the locker room to encourage the players.
However, the moment the chairman announced the bonus amount, the video briefly cut out, and the next scene showed the team cheering, keeping the actual figure a secret, though it was later disclosed through reporters.
