The North Korean women's national football team defeated the home team Tajikistan 10-0 in the first match of Group H in the qualifiers for the 2026 Women's Asian Cup held at the Pamir Stadium in Dushanbe, Tajikistan on the 30th of last month.
North Korea displayed remarkable offensive power, scoring a staggering 8 goals in the first half alone. Kim Kyung-yong, who scored the opening goal in the 9th minute of the first half, added the team's 8th goal in added time. Kim Kyung-yong showcased extraordinary skill, scoring four goals in just the first half.
North Korea scored two more goals in a relaxed performance in the second half, achieving a 10-0 victory. Not only North Korea, but Uzbekistan also recorded a significant 10-0 win over Sri Lanka. Nepal also defeated Laos 9-0. Bangladesh and Thailand both won 7-0 against Bahrain and Iraq, respectively.
Myanmar and Taiwan also scored 8 goals each. In total, a remarkable 77 goals were scored in 14 women's football matches.
Japan's Soccer Digest expressed astonishment, saying, “Is this football? Hockey? Was there even a goalkeeper? How strong must North Korea be to score 10 goals?”
South Korea has already secured a spot in the finals of the Asian Cup to be held in Australia in March of next year alongside Australia, Japan, and China.
