There are claims that Son Heung-min (33, Tottenham Hotspur) and Tottenham should now part ways.

According to British media outlet TeamTalk on the 30th (Korea time), Dan Kilpatrick of the global media outlet The Athletic said, "Tottenham must now make the harsh decision to sell Son Heung-min."

Kilpatrick said, "Son Heung-min has finally lifted a trophy. He created a moment to remember for a lifetime," adding, "Now, with only one year left on his contract with Tottenham, it is clear that his performance declined last season. He is not the Son Heung-min of old," suggesting that considering the remaining contract period and his condition, it is now time for Tottenham to say goodbye.

Furthermore, he added, "It might make sense for all parties to part ways after the summer tour in Korea. Tottenham will not let Son Heung-min leave before the visit to Korea."

The BBC also predicted on the 17th that Son Heung-min's future will not be determined at least before the schedule in Korea.

Tottenham will face Newcastle in the '2025 Coupang Play Series' at Seoul World Cup Stadium at 8 p.m. on August 3rd. This is a 'champion match' between Tottenham, the winner of the UEFA Europa League, and Newcastle, the winner of the English Carabao Cup. The series organizers hinted that "both teams are expected to bring the trophy to Korea, raising the significance of the match and the excitement on site."

On August 2nd, the day before the match, Tottenham will hold an open training session at Goyang Sports Complex to interact closely with fans.

Before visiting Korea, Tottenham will play a friendly match against Arsenal in Hong Kong on July 31st. From Tottenham's perspective, they need to capitalize on the marketing benefits brought by leading winger Son Heung-min.

Teams in the financially secure Saudi Arabian league are consistently sending love calls to Son Heung-min with money in hand.

Son Heung-min also received interest from Saudi Arabia last summer. According to U.S. CBS Sports, Al Ittihad offered a transfer fee of $65 million (approximately 90.8 billion won) and a four-year salary of €120 million (approximately 187.6 billion won) at that time. However, Son Heung-min chose to stay in England, expressing his desire for victory.

Son Heung-min previously expressed his position on a transfer rumor to the Saudi league. After the A-match against El Salvador in 2023, he recalled, "I remember what (former teammate) Ki Sung-yueng said, 'The captain of the Republic of Korea national team does not go to the Chinese league,'" and indicated his refusal, saying, "There are still things I need to do in the Premier League."

Reports suggest that former Tottenham head coach José Mourinho, now with Turkish powerhouse Fenerbahçe, also wants to participate in the bidding for Son Heung-min.

For now, Son Heung-min is keeping his words minimal.

After the June A-match against Kuwait, he stated, "Both the fans and I are curious about (my future). Rather than worrying about the future, I think it’s better to observe what happens next."

He continued, "Regardless of where I play or what role I take, it remains unchanged that I am a player who always prepares and works hard. I will continue to do my best in any position going forward."
