Professional baseball team SSG Landers secured a winning series with strong performances from its pitchers and home runs from its hitters.
SSG won 2-0 against the Hanwha Eagles in the '2025 Shinhan Bank SOL Bank KBO League' game held on the 29th at Incheon SSG Landers Field, claiming a weekend winning series with 2 wins and 1 loss.
Starting pitcher Mitch White delivered an impressive performance with 6 innings, 3 hits, 2 walks, and 10 strikeouts, finishing without allowing any runs, earning his 6th win of the season. The bullpen, consisting of Noh Kyung-eun (1 inning, no runs), Lee Ro-un (1 inning, no runs), and Cho Byeong-hyun (1 inning, no runs), preserved the team's victory. Cho Byeong-hyun earned his 16th save of the season.
In the batting lineup, Eredia (3rd of the season) and Han Yoo-seom (8th of the season) hit home runs. Eredia and Jo Hyung-woo contributed with multi-hit performances.
In the 2nd inning, lead-off batter Eredia hit a solo home run to give SSG the early lead. Hanwha created an opportunity in the 5th inning with one out, as Kim Tae-yean and Lee Do-yoon drew walks, putting runners on first and second with one out. Choi Jae-hun's ground ball was fielded by the shortstop, resulting in two outs with runners on first and third, and pinch hitter Ahn Chi-hong struck out swinging, wasting a scoring chance. In the 6th inning, lead-off batter Han Yoo-seom hit a solo home run, extending SSG's lead.
SSG manager Lee Soong-yong expressed his feelings about the victory in a post-game interview, saying, "With 2 home runs and the pitchers' scoreless pitching, we were able to finish the difficult three-game series with a winning record."
"Starting pitcher White mixed his variety of pitches well, delivering a strong performance for 6 innings," said Lee Soong-yong, who praised the pitchers that came in afterward: "Noh Kyung-eun, Lee Ro-un, and Cho Byeong-hyun all showcased impeccable pitching." He continued, "Today, Jo Hyung-woo not only had good chemistry with the pitchers, but also his ability to prevent stolen bases in the 6th and 7th innings was a great support for the pitchers. He also contributed with a multi-hit performance. He is improving steadily in both offense and defense, so I have high expectations for the future."
Manager Lee Soong-yong remarked, "In offense, the 2 solo home runs from Eredia and Yoo-seom were the driving force behind our victory. Both Eredia's timely home run and Yoo-seom's home run that added to our score were valuable home runs." He added, "I would like to thank the fans for their passionate support during the three-game series. We will do well in our upcoming 6-game road trip next week," expressing gratitude to the fans who helped achieve a new franchise record with five consecutive sellouts at home.
SSG will face the Kia Tigers in an away three-game series starting July 1 at Gwangju-Kia Champions Field.
