Yoon Hyung-bin (FREE) achieved a first-round TKO victory against Banz (Fighter 100) in a much-anticipated match.
Yoon Hyung-bin dominated Banz in the -76kg special event match of the second game of the Gubbne ROAD FC 073 held at the Jangchung Gymnasium in Seoul on the 28th, finishing the fight in 1 minute and 42 seconds into the first round.
The bout between the two fighters had been building anticipation for about six months. Banz issued the challenge at the end of last year. The match was officially confirmed on Mar. 16.
Yoon Hyung-bin, at the age of 43, thoroughly prepared for the match by getting into shape, losing over 11 kg. Right after making weight, he noted, “I have no regrets about preparing for this match. I believe I am better than Banz in every aspect. I am confident if it turns into a striking battle.”
Banz also expressed confidence, saying, “I prepared for both grappling and striking. I will move instinctively without calculating. I am confident in any situation.”
After the match started, the two fighters engaged in an early exploratory battle, but Yoon Hyung-bin's counter punch landed squarely, causing Banz to fall.
Banz, who fell, had no opportunity to rise. Yoon Hyung-bin immediately unleashed a pounding attack, and the referee stopped the fight. The outcome came much faster than expected. Yoon Hyung-bin’s dominance was predicted even before the match. The decision was made in the first round.
Banz has three years of judo training experience from middle school. Though his experience in mixed martial arts is short, he is 10 years younger than Yoon Hyung-bin and has good physical stamina, making a closely contested match anticipated. He even set a promise to 'delete his YouTube channel,' but the result was a crushing defeat.
Yoon Hyung-bin ended the match in a short time with his extensive training experience and steady performance. The bout, which attracted fans' interest, was won with a single counter.
