KIA triumphed 9-8 after exchanging 31 hits in the 2025 KBO League game against LG held at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul on the 28th. Kim Seok-hwan contributed significantly with the game-winning hit, going 2-for-3 with 1 walk, 3 runs batted in, and 2 runs scored.

KIA's Jeon Sang-hyun recorded a hold with 1 run allowed over 1⅓ innings, achieving his career milestone of 100 holds. This is the 19th record in KBO history. KIA's closer Jung Hae-young achieved his 20th save for five consecutive years with a scoreless 1 inning. This is the 3rd record in KBO history.

Both teams' starters were pulled early. KIA starter Kim Do-hyun pitched 3⅓ innings, allowing 9 hits, 1 home run, 1 walk, and striking out 4 with 7 earned runs. LG starter Song Seung-gi allowed 7 earned runs over 2⅓ innings, giving up 7 hits, 1 home run, and 1 walk.

KIA's starting lineup included Lee Chang-jin (left fielder), Park Chan-ho (shortstop), Wisdom (third baseman), Choi Hyung-woo (designated hitter), Oh Seon-woo (first baseman), Kim Seok-hwan (right fielder), Kim Ho-ryeong (center fielder), Kim Tae-gun (catcher), and Park Min (second baseman).

LG took the lead in the bottom of the 1st. Leadoff hitter Shin Min-jae reached base with a double down the right field line, and Kim Hyun-soo brought him home with a right-field single. After one out, Park Dong-won walked, and with two outs and runners on first and second, Cheon Seong-ho created a bases-loaded opportunity with an infield single to the shortstop. Gu Bon-hyeok hit the first pitch, but the ball rolled into foul territory before curving fair for a groundout to the first baseman.

KIA turned the game around in the 2nd inning. Leadoff hitter Choi Hyung-woo opened the scoring with a double that hit the right-center wall on a bounce. After one out, Kim Seok-hwan walked, and Kim Ho-ryeong tied the game with a timely hit up the middle.

With one out and runners on first and second, Kim Tae-gun hit a double to left field to take a 2-1 lead. With one out and runners on second and third, Park Min's hit was fielded by the left fielder, who charged toward left center and attempted a sliding catch but failed, resulting in a one-RBI double. With one out and runners on second and third, Lee Chang-jin added to the lead with a sacrifice fly to center, making it 4-1.

In the 3rd inning, KIA's leadoff hitter Wisdom lifted a low forkball on a 1-ball, 2-strike count over the left field fence for a solo home run (his 15th of the season). Choi Hyung-woo reached base with a right-field single, and after one out, Kim Seok-hwan hit a triple to right-center, extending the lead to 6-1.

LG fought back in the bottom of the 3rd. Leadoff hitter Austin reached base with a double down the right field line. After one out, Moon Sung-ju's hit up the middle put runners on first and third. When Cheon Seong-ho grounded out to the first baseman, Oh Seon-woo's throwing error to second allowed one run to score, resulting in one out with runners on first and second.

Moon Bo-gyeong took over for Gu Bon-hyeok at bat. Moon Bo-gyeong hit a changeup (135 km/h) from Kim Do-hyun on the first pitch for a three-run home run (his 14th of the season), closing the gap to 5-7.

In the bottom of the 4th, LG tied the game. Leadoff hitter Song Chan-ui reached base with a single to left field and successfully stole second. Shortstop Park Chan-ho mishandled a groundball from Austin, throwing it over the first baseman's head, allowing the runner from second to score, while the batter advanced to second.

Park Dong-won struck out, but Moon Sung-ju tied the game at 7-7 with a timely hit off the first pitch from the new pitcher, Kim Dae-yu.

KIA regained the lead in the 6th inning. Facing LG's bullpen pitcher Park Myeong-geun, Park Chan-ho got on base with a hit to center field and successfully stole second. The catcher's throw went into the outfield, allowing Park Chan-ho to advance to third. Wisdom walked.

LG replaced their pitcher with left-handed Lee Woo-chan. Choi Hyung-woo also drew a walk, making it first and second with one out. Oh Seon-woo struck out swinging, but Kim Seok-hwan hit a timely single to right field between first and second, driving in two runs to lead 9-7.

In the bottom of the 6th, KIA brought in Jeon Sang-hyun as a reliever following Seong Young-tak with two outs and a runner on first. Moon Sung-ju walked, but Cheon Seong-ho was retired on a groundout to the first baseman, preventing any runs from scoring.

In the top of the 9th, KIA's leadoff hitter Kim Ho-ryeong reached base with a double to left-center. Kim Tae-gun's sacrifice bunt advanced him to third with one out. Pinch hitter Go Jong-wook walked on an automatic intentional walk. Lee Chang-jin struck out on three pitches, and Park Chan-ho was out on a pop fly to center.

In the bottom of the 9th, KIA's closer Jung Hae-young came in and preserved the one-run victory. He recorded his 20th save for five consecutive seasons. Leadoff hitter Moon Bo-gyeong reached base with a hit, and after two outs, Shin Min-jae created a scoring chance with a double down the left field line. Song Chan-ui batted for the final out, ending the game.
