Tottenham Hotspur unveiled their new away kit for the 2025-2026 season. At its center was still Son Heung-min (33, Tottenham). However, his future remains uncertain.
Tottenham announced the new away uniform for the 2025-2026 season through their official channel on the 26th (Korean time). This uniform was revealed with the slogan "In Darkness We Dare" and is designed as a kit symbolizing their return to the UEFA Champions League for away matches.
The overall design is "all black." A fine grid pattern is added to the front of the uniform to emphasize a sharp silhouette, and the main sponsor "AIA" logo, marked in white, is placed in the center. The Nike swoosh logo is located on the right chest, while the Tottenham emblem is positioned on the left chest, with the sleeves and collar finished in solid black, showcasing refined elegance.
The Tottenham club explained, "This uniform is designed for speed and made for stealth. A bold look to commemorate the return to Champions League away matches." This uniform will be sold exclusively at the club and Nike official stores, and it offers an option to attach a Europa League winner badge.
The promotional video released alongside features Dominic Solanke and Ella Moris transitioning dramatically into an away game scene at the training ground. Son Heung-min, along with Jess Naz, Guglielmo Vicario, and Jed Spence, also appears briefly, adding energy to the video. Notably, Son Heung-min features prominently in the campaign posters and main images, continuing to serve as the team's "face."
It is uncertain whether Son Heung-min will actually wear this uniform in an official match. On the 26th, the British outlet 'Football London' highlighted, "Son Heung-min is currently in a situation where his future in North London is uncertain, but he appeared as one of the main players wearing the new grid-patterned away kit."
It noted, "Son Heung-min is more open to the possibility of a transfer than ever before," reporting that interest from the Saudi Arabian Professional League continues.
Last month, prior to the Europa League final, Son Heung-min stated, "Since my contract is still ongoing, I think it's better to wait rather than say anything here right now." He continued, "Many people are curious, but I believe it's important to do my best in my current position. Wherever I am, I've always been a diligent player and should continue to be that way." Son Heung-min's contract extends until June 2026.
Ahead of the season under new manager Thomas Frank, Tottenham once again finds itself at a crucial crossroads regarding the future of captain Son Heung-min. Like during coach Postecoglou's tenure, coach Frank may also face the possibility of a "captain's departure" transition.
The new uniform has been revealed, and the club will return to the Champions League stage. However, will the captain's armband, worn by Tottenham in Europe, still rest on Son Heung-min's arm?
