KIA Tigers' ace closer Jeong Hae-young is just one save away from becoming the third player in history to achieve 20 saves in five consecutive seasons.
In the KBO League, the only players to have recorded 20 saves in five consecutive seasons are Go Dae-sung (former Hanwha) and Son Seung-rak (former Lotte).
Go Dae-sung recorded this for seven consecutive seasons from the 1996-2007 season (2001-2005 overseas), and Son Seung-rak did so for seven consecutive seasons from 2012 to 2018. Go Dae-sung achieved this record in his eighth year as a professional in the 2000 season, while Son Seung-rak set his record in his 12th year in the 2016 season. Jeong Hae-young, who joined KIA in the 2020 season, is approaching this remarkable record in just his sixth year of debut, the fastest among the three.
On April 24, 2024, Jeong Hae-young set the record for the youngest player to reach 100 saves in a game against Kiwoom held at Gocheok and achieved the youngest record for 10 saves in five consecutive seasons on May 13, 2025, against Lotte in Gwangju, continuously breaking records related to saves.
As of June 24, Jeong Hae-young is ranked third in the league with 19 saves and is closely pursuing Park Young-hyun (KT), who has recorded 21 saves, and Kim Won-jung (Lotte), who has 20 saves. Jeong Hae-young recorded 31 saves in the 2024 season and won the KBO League Save Award.
