The East Asia Super League (EASL) announced the appointment of Adam Zecha as the new Secretary General and Yang Jae-hyun as the new representative of Korea/Mongolia.
Adam Zecha, the new Secretary General, is a veteran with 30 years of experience in the sports media industry, having previously served as the Senior Vice President of Revenue at ESPN-Star Sports, a joint venture established by Disney and Fox in the Asia region. He also held senior executive positions at the sports media company CSI Sports and Singaporean telecommunications company Singtel. He joined EASL in 2024 and has led key achievements, such as impressive revenue growth and a groundbreaking expansion of media coverage.
EASL CEO Henry Kerins noted, "Adam Zecha is one of the key leaders driving EASL's growth, and given the achievements he has made in such a short time at EASL, his appointment as Secretary General was a logical decision. His vision and experience will be of great help in elevating the league to a new level across the region."
The new Secretary General, Adam Zecha, will oversee the league operations of EASL, where top teams from Japan, Korea, Taiwan, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Macau, and Mongolia come together. He aims to expand EASL's competitive presence as it enters its third season, enhance fan engagement, and elevate the level of professional basketball in Asia.
Adam Zecha, the new Secretary General, said, "We are not just growing the league; we are nurturing the entire basketball culture in Asia. EASL aims to establish itself as a league that embodies the energy, diversity, and spirit of challenge in this region. From elite teams to future star players, we will create a sustainable basketball ecosystem where fans and partners can participate together."
Under the leadership of the new Secretary General, EASL is preparing to launch Future Champions, a youth development platform in the Asia region, and plans to sign a partnership with the 3-on-3 basketball league "BIG3," founded by renowned American hip-hop artists Ice Cube and Jeff Kwatinetz, in early June. A new concept 3-on-3 basketball event combining entertainment elements will be held in Asia in 2026.
Yang Jae-hyun, the newly appointed representative of Korea/Mongolia, previously served as the CEO of the Korean subsidiary of the global media corporation FOX Networks Group and joined EASL as the Korean commercial director in 2024. He was subsequently promoted to representative due to his business capabilities and extensive experience in the sports media industry, leading the league's growth and market strategies in Korea.
Yang Jae-hyun expressed his aspirations, saying, "EASL has invested significant funds to create a world-class basketball league in Asia, but it is unfortunately still not well known domestically. In the future, we will collaborate with various partners to facilitate communication with fans and make EASL games the best live events combining basketball and entertainment, while also actively linking with sports sponsors representing Korea and Asia to create commercial value."
EASL secured participation from Hong Kong and Macau in the 2024-2025 season and is continuing its expansion by confirming the participation of Mongolia for the upcoming 2025-2026 season, which will commence in October.
