English Premier League (EPL) Manchester United (Man U) is exploring the possibility of acquiring 19-year-old midfielder Warren Zaïre-Emery from French Ligue 1 Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). The negotiations do not appear to be easy.
According to the British media outlet 'TeamTalk', on the 26th (Korean time), 'Manchester United, led by coach Ruben Amorim, has begun initial talks to confirm the transfer conditions for Zaïre-Emery. However, they are facing several obstacles.'
Manchester United is focused on strengthening their midfield to fill the gap left by Christian Eriksen, who is leaving the team when his contract expires on June 30. Zaïre-Emery has emerged as a long-term alternative for Manchester United. They are looking to sell Casemiro to secure funds.
The France national team player Zaïre-Emery is one of the most promising talents in Ligue 1. Despite being only 19 years old, he has played 29 matches and scored one goal in the 2024-2025 season. He has played as a starting midfielder and made a significant contribution to his team's success in the Champions League and Ligue 1.
According to 'TeamTalk', Luis Enrique, the coach of PSG, wants Zaïre-Emery to remain with the club. PSG has set a high transfer fee of approximately €100 million (about 158.8 billion won), and they are determined to hold onto him unless a 'large offer' comes in.
Manchester United is restricted in its high expenditure due to the Financial Sustainability Regulations (PSR). To acquire Zaïre-Emery for €100 million, they must first sell existing players.
Currently, Manchester United is focusing on acquiring winger Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford, and it is reported that Coach Amorim is also hopeful for additional resources to assist in the attack. This is the reason why Manchester United is showing interest in Zaïre-Emery.
However, due to financial circumstances, 'TeamTalk' predicts that 'the acquisition of Zaïre-Emery by Manchester United is likely to be postponed until the later stages of the transfer market.'
'TeamTalk' reported that 'so far, Manchester United has only had very basic conversations with Zaïre-Emery's camp. There has been no significant progress, but they have conveyed a clear intention to bring Zaïre-Emery to Old Trafford.'
Zaïre-Emery is still classified as a key resource at PSG despite competing with Vitinha, Fabian Ruiz, and João Neves. He is included in PSG's long-term plans, so many conditions must be met for a transfer to become a reality.
