The Taekwondo Promotion Foundation (TPF) is operating a Taekwondo training course titled "Welcome, it's your first time at Taekwondo" for teachers nationwide during the school summer vacation period, in conjunction with the Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Office of Education, and is accepting applications until July 7.
The first half of 2025 Taekwondo training sessions will be held from July 30 (Wednesday) to August 8 (Friday) and will be conducted in three sessions, targeting a total of 90 teachers with 30 participants each. The selection of participants for the Taekwondo training sessions will be made through a process focusing on "job relevance and possibility of utilizing Taekwondo in classes."
The Taekwondo Promotion Foundation (TPF) supports the activation of Taekwondo classes in public education and encourages voluntary participation from teachers by covering the expenses for class participation, various experiential activities, teaching materials, and costs incurred during the training course.
The Taekwondo training sessions will include theoretical education for understanding Taekwondo led by instructors from the Taekwondo Promotion Foundation (TPF), as well as technical guidance on forms, sparring, and self-defense, all designed to be applicable immediately in school Taekwondo classes. In particular, a time will be allocated for participants to present their lesson plans based on the "Taekwondo lesson guidance plan," providing all teachers a chance to share their teaching methods and to reference other teachers’ approaches.
Teachers who participated in last year's Taekwondo training sessions noted, "I felt the necessity for students to learn Taekwondo in the school setting," "I had the perception that Taekwondo was an exercise only for children and teenagers, but my interest in adult Taekwondo training increased through the training session," and "I have grown more proud of Taekwondo."
Kim Joong-heon, chairman of the Taekwondo Promotion Foundation (TPF), stated, "Taekwondo is a martial art of Korea and a sport that holds an international status as an Olympic official event," and he added, "We will do our utmost to prepare and operate the Taekwondo training sessions so that the various educational and personal development values of Taekwondo can be integrated into public education."
Meanwhile, detailed information about the first half of the 2025 teachers' special field (Taekwondo) training sessions and application methods can be found on the websites of the Taekwondo Promotion Foundation (TPF) and Taekwondowon.
