Argentine footballer Camilo Nune dies during knee surgery at 18

An 18-year-old Argentine prospect died during knee surgery.

The British BBC reported on the 26th (Korea time) that 'Argentine midfielder Camilo Nune died during knee surgery.'

He had played for Boca Juniors and the Independiente youth academy before playing for the second division team San Telmo since 2022.

The cause of death has not yet been disclosed.

San Telmo said, 'We announce the news of Nune's death with deep sorrow during the surgery on the 26th. As a sign of mourning, the club will close its doors for the day. We will stand by his family, friends, and teammates during this difficult time and spare no support they need.'

Claudio Tapia, president of the Argentine Football Association (AFA), expressed his grief on social media, stating it is 'a very sad news that shakes the football community.'

AFA stated, 'The Argentine Football Association expresses deep condolences for the death of Camilo Nune in the name of President Claudio Tapia and the Executive Committee, and extends condolences to the bereaved family.'
