The Daegu 2025 World University Taekwondo Festival Organizing Committee is diligently implementing the 'Observer Program,' a key preliminary procedure for the operation of international competitions, and is laying a practical foundation for a successful event.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism noted that for international competitions held with government funding, it officially recommends the Observer Program to acquire operational know-how by observing similar and different types of international competitions prior to the event, and the Daegu Organizing Committee is exemplarily fulfilling this.

On June 22, the Daegu Organizing Committee sent a delegation comprised of the Competition Operations Headquarters and the master agency officials from SCOM Co., Ltd. to observe the '2025 Seoul Cup International Open Taekwondo Championships' held at the Jamsil Student Gymnasium in Seoul, directly checking the overall operation of the event, including referee and athlete movement, opening and closing ceremony production, and on-site safety management.

Jung Byeong-ki, the Secretary-General of the Daegu Organizing Committee participating in the Observer Program, said, "Through this program, I was able to directly confirm the actual operation methods and detailed specifics of a global taekwondo competition," adding, "It has become a valuable opportunity to coordinate the division of roles, collaborative systems, and responsibilities with the agency as a newly established organizing committee." Park Joo-sik, the Head of the Competition Department, also evaluated, "Despite having prior experience, discovering operational elements that need improvement through the field was a significant gain."

Additionally, on June 25, the Daegu Organizing Committee conducted a meeting with the operational officials of the Chungcheong Organizing Committee for the 2027 Chungcheong Summer World University Games at their request, presenting the status of their preparations. At this meeting, Secretary-General Jung Byeong-ki warmly welcomed the participation of the Chungcheong Organizing Committee in the Observer Program and promised to provide maximum cooperation regarding venue facilities, operational systems, operational data, on-site inquiries, and photography during the event.

Meanwhile, the Daegu 2025 World University Taekwondo Festival will take place from July 5 to 8 at the Seongseo campus of Keimyung University in Daegu. As of the 25th, applications have been completed from over 26 countries, and approximately 1,800 athletes and officials are expected to participate, making it a platform for global youth sports exchange centered on taekwondo.
