The professional baseball team Kiwoom Heroes ended their two-game losing streak by defeating the KIA Tigers, who were on a six-game winning streak.

On the 24th, Kiwoom won 9-6 against KIA in the '2025 Shinhan Bank SOL Bank KBO League' at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul, breaking their two-game losing streak.

Starting pitcher Kim Yun-ha aimed to end his personal 15-game losing streak. He met the criteria for a win through the fourth inning but failed to record any outs in the fifth.

The bullpen, consisting of Park Yoon-sung (1 inning, no earned runs), Lee Jun-woo (1 inning, 1 earned run), Cho Young-gun (1 inning, no earned runs), and Won Jong-hyun (1 inning, no earned runs), preserved the team's victory. Joo Seung-woo secured his 10th save of the season.

The Kiwoom lineup drove the team to victory, collecting 13 hits and 1 home run. Lim Ji-yeol propelled the win with his 4th home run of the season, going 3 for 4 with 1 home run, 4 RBIs, and 1 run. Song Seong-mun, Eo Jun-seo, and Kim Dong-heon recorded multi-hit games.

KIA took the lead in the first inning as leadoff hitter Lee Chang-jin and Park Chan-ho drew consecutive walks, and Choi Hyung-woo hit a three-run home run.

In the bottom of the third, Kiwoom quickly responded as leadoff hitter Eo Jun-seo and Kim Dong-heon both hit singles, and Jeon Tae-hyun delivered an RBI single to score a run. With bases loaded from Lim Ji-yeol's hit, Choi Joo-hwan struck a two-RBI double to tie the game. However, KIA regained the lead with a solo home run from Han Jun-soo in the fourth inning.

Trailing, Kiwoom answered in the bottom of the fourth with consecutive hits from leadoff hitters Joo Seung-won and Eo Jun-seo. KIA replaced starting pitcher Yoon Young-cheol with Lee Ho-min, but Kim Dong-heon hit an RBI single to tie the game, and Jeon Tae-hyun drew a walk. With no outs and the bases loaded, Song Seong-mun earned a go-ahead walk, followed by Lim Ji-yeol's sacrifice fly, putting Kiwoom ahead 6-4.

KIA retaliated in the top of the fifth as leadoff hitter Choi Hyung-woo drew a walk, and Oh Seon-woo and Kim Seok-hwan hit consecutive singles to create a bases-loaded opportunity. Ultimately, Kim Yun-ha was unable to secure a win and was replaced by Park Yoon-sung. Han Jun-soo managed to score a run with a 4-6-3 double play. In the sixth inning with one out, Lee Chang-jin hit a game-tying solo home run.

In the bottom of the sixth, with one out, Jeon Tae-hyun walked, and Song Seong-mun followed with a hit to create a one-out, one and two-base opportunity. KIA replaced Choi Ji-min with Seong Young-tak, but Lim Ji-yeol smashed a three-run home run, sealing Kiwoom's victory.

Kiwoom manager Hong Won-ki expressed his thoughts in a post-game interview, saying, "Thanks to Park Yoon-sung, who came in during a no-out, bases-loaded crisis in the fifth and held them to minimal runs, we were able to maintain the momentum and keep the lead. The bullpen pitchers who came in afterward also fulfilled their roles well." He added, "In the lineup, Lim Ji-yeol led the offense. The three-run home run in the sixth was a crucial blow that decided the game."

Kiwoom recorded its 11th sellout of the season (16,000 seats) that day. Manager Hong Won-ki said, "I sincerely thank the fans for filling Gocheok Dome. Your passionate support was a great source of strength. We will prepare well to show a good game tomorrow."

Starting the three-game series on a high note with a victory, Kiwoom has announced that Lachlan Wells will be the starting pitcher on the 25th. KIA will have Adam Oller as the starting pitcher.
