The Korea Billiards Federation (President Seo Soo-gil) is hosting the '2025 KBF Division League,' which will officially kick off on the 25th, organized by the billiards federations of 17 cities and provinces, and supported by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation (KSPO).
The 2025 Division League will operate as a large-scale integrated recreational and professional sports league, based on a multi-tiered league system from D2 to D5, including all events of carom and pocket billiards, with about 190 leagues nationwide, 1,300 teams, and approximately 7,000 athletes.
In particular, this year, new youth and senior leagues will be established, marking an important turning point as billiards transforms into a life-cycle sport that encompasses all generations, rather than being limited to a specific age group.
The pilot operation of the top-tier D1 league will also be 추진 during the second half of this year. Since the launch of the D5 league in 2020, the Korea Billiards Federation has been promoting gradual expansion every year, and in 2024, it successfully stabilized the league system through the pilot operation of the D2 league. This year, the top-tier D1 league will be introduced in the second half of the year to enhance the completeness of the division system.
A key change in this league is the operation of specialized leagues by generation. The youth league will be an integrated league for both recreational and professional athletes, providing a platform for intergenerational exchange and skill enhancement. In particular, this December, a 'Youth Championship' will be held featuring top-tier players from the first and second halves of the year, which is expected to increase the sense of achievement and motivation among young billiards players.
As part of associated events, various experiential content will be conducted, including the 'One Cue Level Up Camp' inviting national team-level athletes and the 'Q Literacy Education' program for fair competition and character education.
The senior league is a friendly league designed for those aged 60 and above, structured to be easily accessible for the elderly, incorporating not only three-cushion billiards but also free cushion and four-ball events.
The Korea Billiards Federation noted that "the Division League is establishing itself as a platform for all generations to enjoy and grow together, beyond just being a simple recreational sports competition," adding, "We will continue to promote the consolidation of local communities and generations while expanding the competitiveness and participatory base of the billiards sport."
