The Korean Sport & Olympic Committee (KSOC), led by Yoo Seong-min, appointed Lee Soo-kyung, president of the Korea Skating Union, as the head of the South Korean delegation for the 2026 25th Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics. Lee will become the first female head of the South Korean Olympic delegation in history.

The 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics will take place from Feb. 6 (Friday) to 22 (Sunday) in Milan and Cortina, Italy, featuring the world's largest winter sports festival with approximately 5,000 athletes from over 90 countries participating. The event will consist of eight sports and 16 disciplines.

The Korean Sport & Olympic Committee (KSOC) selected Lee Soo-kyung as the head of the South Korean delegation, considering her contributions to sports development domestically and internationally, her capabilities as an international referee, her leadership in the sports community, and her diverse field experience.

Lee Soo-kyung, a former figure skating athlete, has gained extensive field experience after retiring from competition, serving as an international referee and in various positions within domestic and international sports organizations. She has held significant roles in the sports community, including as the president of the Korea Skating Union and a director of the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee (KSOC), and was recently elected chair of the Winter Olympic Sports Council.

Lee Soo-kyung said, "I will do my best to support our athletes so they can perform to the best of their abilities and, more importantly, compete with pride and confidence." She also stated, "I will diligently fulfill my responsibilities as the head of the delegation to ensure that the athletes can fully concentrate on the competition, achieve their goals, embody the Olympic spirit, and elevate Korea's standing on the global stage."
