The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) Korean office announced on the 21st that it has officially signed a partnership with Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors FC (hereinafter referred to as Jeonbuk Hyundai) at the Jeonju World Cup Stadium.

Through this partnership, Jeonbuk Hyundai will become the first club in the K League to attach the WFP logo to their team uniforms, conveying a message for 'a world without hunger' both on and off the field.

This partnership is a common commitment between WFP and Jeonbuk Hyundai to raise awareness of the global food crisis and to take action with more people through the power of sports.

In this regard, Jeonbuk Hyundai plans to attach the WFP logo in a prominent exposure area at the upper center of the uniform and donate part of the revenue from uniform sales to WFP's humanitarian support activities. This serves as a leading nonprofit collaboration model in the domestic and international professional sports sector, demonstrating that sports can be a force for positive change.

Lee Hyun-ji, head of the WFP Korean office, noted, 'This agreement is a special case where sports and humanitarianism meet and will be a powerful opportunity to raise awareness of the seriousness of the food crisis among soccer fans and the public.' She added, 'We sincerely welcome our partnership with Jeonbuk Hyundai, which has a solid fandom in Korea, and we hope to deliver a message of hope to more people through this.'

Jeong Yuseok, CEO of Jeonbuk Hyundai, stated, 'Given that millions of people around the world are facing extreme hunger, I feel a deep sense of responsibility knowing that we can contribute through sports.' He emphasized, 'This partnership is significant as it goes beyond just achievements on the field, making a tangible difference in helping those in need.'

WFP has been continuously expanding its cooperation with the institutional sector to respond to the global food crisis caused by conflicts, climate emergencies, and economic recession. Son Heung-min, captain of both the South Korea national soccer team and Premier League's Tottenham Hotspur, also serves as a goodwill ambassador for WFP, contributing to the dissemination of humanitarian messages through sports.

Meanwhile, Hyundai Motor, the parent company of Jeonbuk Hyundai, is practicing global solidarity by providing eco-friendly electric vehicles and charging infrastructure to support WFP's humanitarian activities.
