A critical perspective on Bayern Munich's defensive rebuilding strategy has emerged in Germany. There is an analysis suggesting that it is difficult to view new signing Jonathan Tah (28) as a 'replacement' for Kim Min-jae (29).

On the 23rd (Korea time), RAN evaluated, "If Bayern Munich sells Kim Min-jae, they could face the opposite result instead of the expected reinforcement of strength."

It further pointed out, "Jonathan Tah is not an upgraded version of Kim Min-jae. There are risks that go beyond simple replacement."

RAN compared the characteristics and statistics of Kim Min-jae and Tah. The result showed that Kim Min-jae surpasses Tah in several metrics. Specifically, the analysis indicated that Kim Min-jae's strengths are evident in speed, agility, ground dueling ability, and tactical adaptability.

In fact, Kim Min-jae recorded a top speed of 33.75 km/h last season, while Tah's best record was 33.09 km/h. There does not seem to be a significant difference.

However, RAN explained, "What is more important in actual matches is 'reach speed.' Kim Min-jae has excellent acceleration in a short time, whereas it takes Tah longer to build up speed."

It further explained, "Kim Min-jae also excels in directional changes and agile reactions."

The figures from ground duels were also in Kim Min-jae's favor. RAN reported that "Kim Min-jae recorded a 51% success rate in duels last season, while Tah only managed 44%. The number of duels itself also saw Kim Min-jae doubling Tah's count."

In terms of tactical suitability, evaluations also showed Kim Min-jae's superiority. The high-line tactics pursued by Coach Kompany can fully utilize Kim Min-jae's range of activity and physicality.

RAN stated, "Kim Min-jae is a defender who can endure pressure and cover even in deep areas of the opponent's territory," adding, "In contrast, Tah thrived in a three-back system at Bayer Leverkusen. It is still a question mark whether he will adapt perfectly to Kompany's setup."

It also acknowledged that Kim Min-jae had made frequent mistakes while dealing with the effects of injuries. RAN emphasized, "Although there have been recent mistakes, it must be considered that he has been playing through pain for the past six months," noting that "a completely recovered Kim Min-jae has an overall contribution advantage over Tah."

RAN pointed out that "the decision to release Kim Min-jae could undermine Bayern Munich's own defensive stability," stating that "just because they acquire Tah does not guarantee he will be better than Kim Min-jae. In fact, the risks may be greater."

Meanwhile, Kim Min-jae is attracting interest from several big clubs, including Italy's Napoli, AC Milan, and France's Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). Attention is focused on how Bayern Munich will decide his future in the summer transfer market.
