The Los Angeles Dodgers are drawing attention by announcing that they have no intention to actively move in the trade market despite ongoing injuries to their pitchers throughout this season.
The American sports media outlet Dodgers Nation reported on the 22nd (Korea time) that 'the Dodgers have indicated that they are not considering trades despite the continued injuries.' This was stated by Andrew Friedman, president of baseball operations.
Friedman said, 'I remain optimistic. The important thing is that the players return according to the timeline we expect. If that becomes difficult, we are ready to actively pursue reinforcements at any time.' He added, 'However, our strong desire is not to make any trades.'
The Dodgers have focused all efforts on reinforcing their pitching staff this offseason. They heightened expectations by acquiring top-tier left-handed pitcher Blake Snell, a two-time Cy Young Award winner, but Snell has only pitched in two games this season due to shoulder inflammation and has been sidelined since.
Tyler Glasnow is also sidelined due to shoulder inflammation since the end of April and is expected to return to rehab pitching soon.
With a long injury list affecting both the starting rotation and the bullpen, the Dodgers plan to adjust their rotation through internal reinforcements.
While they are flexible in responding to situations if internal returns do not go as planned or significant voids in strength occur, their current strategy prioritizes waiting over external acquisitions.
Although it may be somewhat surprising to fans, this is interpreted as a strategic decision by the team's management to maintain a stable roster.
