Amid the controversy surrounding banned substance use, Paul Pogba (32) is on the verge of a comeback, with several clubs expressing interest in him.

The British 'Daily Mail' reported on the 21st (Korean time) that 'Pogba is receiving interest from Saudi Arabian Pro League club Al-Ittihad and is being pursued more quickly than AS Monaco of France's Ligue 1.'

Pogba grew up in Manchester United's youth team but did not settle in the first team. After leaving for Juventus in the summer of 2012, he established his position as a midfielder at Italian club Juventus.

Manchester United, which watched his growth from afar, re-signed Pogba in August 2016 for an astronomical transfer fee.

After returning to Manchester United, he played in 229 games, scoring 39 goals and providing 51 assists. However, in the 2021-2022 season, injuries and poor form limited him to 27 matches with 1 goal and 9 assists, ultimately leading to another transfer back to Juventus in search of a revival.

Pogba has been at the center of controversy off the field. In a doping test conducted in September 2023, the banned substance testosterone was detected, leading to his suspension as a player. In February 2024, he received a severe sanction of a four-year ban from competition.

He immediately appealed. Pogba's ban was reduced to 18 months, allowing him to return this October.

The first club to reach out to Pogba ahead of his return was Monaco.

Monaco secured third place in France's Ligue 1 this season, ensuring qualification for the next UEFA Champions League. The 'Daily Mail' noted that 'the European stage could serve as an important stepping stone for Pogba, who aims for the 2026 North American World Cup.'

Monaco is reportedly preparing a two-year contract offer and has actively approached Pogba. However, negotiations are facing difficulties due to complex issues like image rights. The 'Daily Mail' reported that 'these obstacles are hindering the transfer.'

Taking advantage of this situation, Al-Ittihad is now moving in earnest. The French media 'Foot Mercato' stated that 'Al-Ittihad has started negotiations to acquire Pogba.'

At Al-Ittihad, there are players of the same nationality as Pogba, including French midfielder N'Golo Kante and forward Karim Benzema.
