For the time being, Son Heung-min (33, Tottenham) and Tottenham's uncomfortable coexistence seems likely to continue.

British media outlet 'Football London' reported on the 21st (Korea time) that "the situation surrounding Son Heung-min and Tottenham is awkward. At this point, where a contract extension has not been made, Son Heung-min, Tottenham, and newly appointed coach Thomas Frank are all not showing a clear position."

Son Heung-min is scheduled to join Tottenham's Asia tour, starting with a preseason match against Arsenal on July 31 in Hong Kong.

He will also visit Korea.

Tottenham will face Newcastle United in a Coupang Play Series friendly match at Seoul World Cup Stadium on August 3. The BBC analyzed, "Since Son Heung-min's participation is directly linked to revenue, the club is likely to temporarily hold off on his transfer."

'Football London' also noted, "If Son Heung-min is missing, it will undoubtedly have a significant impact on box office performance in Korea. Tottenham will not tolerate a decline in revenue resulting from this," and predicted that no definite outline regarding Son Heung-min's future would emerge before his visit.

It also added, "There is another Korean player named Yang Min-hyuk at Tottenham, but his recognition is unlikely to match Son Heung-min's."

In other words, there is currently no 'superstar' like Son Heung-min at Tottenham, which means he will definitely be with the team until the Asia tour. This means that the 'uncomfortable coexistence' will continue at a time when his future is not confirmed.

Harry Kane (Bayern Munich) also faced a similar situation in the past. Right before the 2023-2024 season, he participated in Tottenham's summer tour but avoided interview requests and remained tight-lipped during official events. 'Football London' explained the atmosphere at that time, saying, "Kane participated in the team's schedule despite being on the brink of a transfer but remained silent throughout."

Son Heung-min, who is under contract with Tottenham until June 2026, continues to be the subject of transfer speculation. His next possible destinations include the Saudi Arabian league, Turkey's Fenerbahçe, and Germany's Bayer Leverkusen.

It is noteworthy that new coach Frank did not mention captain Son Heung-min during his recent first interview with Tottenham.

'Football London' analyzed, "While it could be an oversight, it may also be intentional. Given Son Heung-min's uncertain situation, he may have received a prior hint from Tottenham."
