Can the Samsung Lions bring pain once again to Lotte Giants foreign pitcher Alec Gamboa?
The Samsung Lions, led by manager Park Jin-man, have announced their starting lineup for the professional baseball game against the Lotte Giants at Sajik Stadium in Busan on the 20th.
Samsung's lineup consists of Park Seung-kyu (right fielder), Kim Sung-yoon (center fielder), Koo Ja-wook (left fielder), Diaz (first baseman), Kang Min-ho (catcher), Jeon Byeong-woo (third baseman), Park Byeong-ho (designated hitter), Ryu Ji-hyeok (second baseman), and Yang Woo-hyun (shortstop).
There is a significant change in the lineup. Kim Ji-chan and Lee Jae-hyun will start on the bench due to hamstring pain. Lee Jae-hyun is expected not to participate in the game itself. He is resting to prepare for weekend games.
Additionally, Yang Woo-hyun will make his debut as a starting shortstop for the first time. He has no experience playing shortstop in the first team.
Manager Park Jin-man noted, "While Yang Woo-hyun was in the second team, I prepared him to handle all positions including second baseman, third baseman, and shortstop, except for first base." Although Yang Do-geun is on the first team roster as a shortstop resource, he is currently en route after participating in the physical test for the 3rd recruitment of the Military Athletic Corps (Sangmu) in Mungyeong, Gyeongsangbuk-do. He won't make it to Sajik Stadium in time for the lineup submission and will prepare for the later innings of the game.
Park Seung-kyu will start as the leadoff hitter against Gamboa. Among Samsung's hitters, he has faced Lotte's starter Gamboa the most and has performed strongly. He recorded 3 hits in 4 at-bats against Gamboa, with 2 hits in 2 at-bats in the Futures League and 1 hit in 2 at-bats in the first team. During the power analysis meeting, it was even said that Park Seung-kyu himself provided the explanations.
Samsung had shaken Gamboa previously with a triple steal led by Park Seung-kyu. Gamboa recorded 4 and 2/3 innings, allowing 5 hits, 1 walk, 2 hit by pitch, and 9 strikeouts with 4 earned runs. However, afterwards, Gamboa abandoned his unique folder greeting routine and awakened.
Manager Park Jin-man remarked, "That was the first game, and now he has become the ace of Lotte. To be honest, it won't be easy." He also expressed, "Since there are good memories, I hope those good memories continue," adding, "He is the player in our team who has faced Gamboa the most and has done well, which is why he is entering as the first batter."
