The NC Dinos of the Korea Baseball Organization secured a winning series against the LG Twins.
NC won 3-0 in a game against LG held at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul on the 19th. They bounced back from a walk-off loss the previous day to finish the three-game series with 2 wins and 1 loss.
Starting pitcher Shin Min-hyuk shone with his performance. Shin pitched 7 innings, allowing 3 hits, 1 walk, 1 hit batter, striking out 7 while not allowing any runs. He recorded his first victory against LG. After pitching 7 innings (2 earned runs) against Doosan on June 20 last year, he achieved a quality start plus for the first time in a year, marking his 4th win of the season. In the 8th inning, Kim Young-kyu recorded a hold, and Ryu Jin-wook notched a save in the 9th.
In the batting lineup, Kim Hwi-jip hit a go-ahead solo home run, and Park Min-woo contributed with 2 hits and 2 RBIs in 3 at-bats.
NC faced a perfect game from LG starter Choi Chae-hung through the 3rd inning. In the 4th, Kim Joo-won delivered the first hit, but in a 1-out, 1st and 3rd base opportunity, Davidson popped out to the first baseman, and Park Gun-woo grounded out to the third baseman, squandering the chance to score first. In the 5th inning, with 2 outs, Kim Hwi-jip launched a solo home run.
In the 6th inning, leadoff hitter Kim Joo-won reached base with a double, and with 1 out and a runner on second, Park Min-woo drew a walk. After Davidson's flyout to center, with 2 outs and the bases loaded, Seo Ho-cheol struck out to end the inning. In the 7th inning, with a chance created by 3 walks leading to 2 outs and the bases loaded, Park Min-woo hit a 2-RBI single to right, extending the lead to 3-0.
Kim Young-kyu took the mound in the 8th inning, retiring the side in order, while closer Ryu Jin-wook appeared for the third consecutive game, pitching 1 inning without allowing any runs to record a save.
Manager Lee Ho-jun said after the game, “Starting pitcher Shin Min-hyuk took full responsibility for 7 innings and clearly brought the game flow. Thanks to that, we were able to operate the bullpen effectively.”
He also praised, “In the lineup, Kim Hwi-jip created the atmosphere with his go-ahead home run, and captain Park Min-woo did a great job of capitalizing on scoring opportunities, helping to manage a tight game well.”
Manager Lee said, “It was not an easy game due to injured players and those needing rest, but all the players stayed focused until the end, allowing us to secure the victory. We will prepare well for the next game.”
