Thomas Frank (52), has taken up the role of the new head coach of Tottenham Hotspur, expressing deep respect for his predecessor Ange Postecoglou.

Frank signed a contract with Tottenham on June 12 (Korean time) until 2028 and officially took the helm of the team. He arrived in north London this week on Hotspur Way to begin preparations for the upcoming season and unveiled his philosophy and ambitions through the club's official channel 'SPURSPLAY' ahead of the preseason.

According to an interview released on the official website on the 19th, Frank noted, "It felt really special to become the new head coach. I was proud and very excited to take on this massive challenge with great people." He added, "This club is really exciting and a team with great potential. I believe it's a very good squad, and I've only heard good things about the people and the environment here."

During the interview, Frank mentioned last month's UEFA Europa League victory, conveying a message of respect for Postecoglou. He said, "I want to extend big congratulations to the club and the entire team for winning the UEFA Europa League. I also want to send a huge round of applause to Coach Postecoglou. He achieved something truly special at Tottenham and will forever remain a legend of this club."

Tottenham lifted the trophy after defeating Manchester United 1-0 in the UEFA Europa League final for the 2024-2025 season, held at Estadio San Mamés in Bilbao, Spain, on May 22. This marks Tottenham's escape from 17 years without a trophy since the 2007-2008 League Cup, and Son Heung-min also embraced his first major trophy of his career, washing away the disappointment of being a runner-up in the 2019 Champions League.

Tottenham, which held off Manchester United's offensive until the end of the match, secured their first UEFA Europa League title, even with seven minutes of added time. This is the first trophy achieved under Postecoglou's leadership and was a result of fulfilling the promise of 'a second-year trophy' he emphasized from the start of his tenure.

Tottenham made a bold decision. The result of 22 losses out of 38 league matches was not enough to overshadow the single achievement of winning the UEFA Europa League, and ultimately, the club chose to part ways with Postecoglou. Subsequently, Tottenham appointed Thomas Frank, who had led Brentford steadily, as his successor, embarking on a new project.

In this context, Frank emphasized, "We all need to understand that we are standing on the foundation built by our predecessors. I am coming in on the groundwork laid by Coach Postecoglou and his coaching staff. I humbly accept that, and I will do my best to continue the excellent work he has done."

Finally, he vowed, "The emotions I felt on the faces of the fans—excitement, joy, happiness, and every moment captured in photos were all 'wow.' I want to create more such moments in the future. That is my ultimate dream—creating those moments again and continuing to build on that."
