Thomas Frank (52), the head coach, expressed that it is "a truly special feeling" regarding his appointment as head coach of Tottenham Hotspur.
Frank officially took the helm by signing a contract with Tottenham until 2028 on June 12 (Korea time). He arrived this week at Hotspur Way in North London to start his new role, and with the schedule for the 2025-2026 Premier League season announced, he began preparations for the season.
Ahead of preseason training, he revealed his season goals and plans and what kind of team he wants to show to the fans in an interview with the club's official channel 'SPURSPLAY.'
The interview was released on the 19th through Tottenham Hotspur's official website. Frank said, "It felt really special to be the new head coach. I was proud, and I was very excited to take on this enormous challenge with great people."
He added, "I have only heard good things about the people here, the training ground, and the players. I think it's a really good squad, and this club is a team with exciting and tremendous potential, so I was very eager."
He stated, "I had very good conversations with Chairman Daniel Levy, CEO Vinai Venkatesham, Director General Johan Lange. We deeply discussed the club's structure and operational processes, and I shared how I see the club and the team, how I want to operate, and my philosophy and ideas."
He emphasized, "Of course, I can't do anything alone. While the head coach plays an important role, I can't achieve anything without good people around me. I think you can go fast alone, but to accomplish something big, you have to go together. Therefore, I wanted to build a team with the staff and players."
Frank noted, "The most important thing is the alignment of the entire organization. It is important that everyone looks in the same direction from the top down. I believed that if Levy, Venkatesham, Lange, and I move as one unit, the club will be stronger."
He remarked, "Right now, everything feels like a fairy tale. Everyone is happy, the sun is shining brightly, and everything feels fantastic. Of course, we haven't played a single match yet. We want to win many games ahead and strive to give the fans as many magical moments as possible through our hard work in training every day. I will work hard so that at the end of the season we can say, 'It was a very good season.'"
Frank also mentioned the emotional moment when Tottenham lifted the trophy in the Europa League final held in Bilbao during the 2024-2025 season.
On the 22nd of last month, Tottenham defeated Manchester United 1-0 in the Europa League final to claim victory. Tottenham succeeded in breaking its 17-year trophy drought since winning the League Cup in the 2007-2008 season. At the same time, Son Heung-min achieved his career's first major trophy. It was a moment that erased six years of regret since finishing as runners-up in the 2018-2019 UEFA Champions League.
Frank expressed, "I want to extend my big congratulations to the club and the entire team for winning the Europa League. I also send a big congratulations to head coach Ange Postecoglou. He accomplished something very special at Tottenham and will remain a legend of this club forever."
He added, "We must all understand that we are standing on the foundation built by our predecessors. I am coming in on the foundation created by Head Coach Postecoglou and his coaching staff. I humbly embrace that point. I will do my best to continue the excellent work he has done."
Finally, he added, "The emotions, excitement, joy, and happiness felt on the fans' faces, and the scenes captured in the photos were all 'wow.' We want to create more of those moments in the future. That is my ultimate dream. To create those moments again and continue to build on top of that."
