Professional baseball SSG Landers pitcher Mitch White (31) secured a victory with his powerful fastball after five games.

On the 17th, White started the game against the Kiwoom Heroes in the 2025 Shinhan Bank SOL Bank KBO League at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul, recording a win with 6 innings pitched, 3 hits allowed, 1 walk, 1 hit batter, 6 strikeouts, and no earned runs.

In the bottom of the first inning, after allowing lead-off batter Song Seong-mun to reach base on a walk, White induced a 4-6-3 double play from Lim Ji-yeol. Although Lee Joo-hyung was hit by a pitch, he finished the inning without allowing a run after getting Choi Joo-hwan to fly out to center field. In the second inning, White allowed a hit to lead-off batter Stone Garrett but retired Joo Seong-won, Kim Dong-heon, and Song Ji-hu to end the inning without significant trouble.

In the third inning, White struck out lead-off batter Eo Jun-seo. He allowed a hit to Song Seong-mun but got Lim Ji-yeol to fly out to center field. Although Song Seong-mun stole second base to create a two-out, runner on second situation, he got Lee Joo-hyung to ground out to first base without allowing a run. In the fourth inning, when SSG took a 2-0 lead, White struck out lead-off batter Choi Joo-hwan and got Stone out on a ground ball to first base. He allowed a hit to Joo Seong-won but got Kim Dong-heon to fly out to center field, finishing the inning without allowing a run.

In the fifth inning, White recorded two strikeouts and created a three-up, three-down inning. He added another strikeout in the sixth inning and finished that inning cleanly as well. With SSG leading 4-0 in the seventh inning, he handed the mound over to Kim Min and concluded his appearance for the day.

White recorded 92 pitches, utilizing a four-seam fastball (45 pitches), cutter (25 pitches), two-seam fastball (10 pitches), curveball (9 pitches), and slider (3 pitches). His maximum fastball velocity reached 154 km/h, and his strike rate was 70.7%. Leveraging his fastball, he engaged in aggressive battles with hitters, allowing him to efficiently pitch 6 innings with fewer than 100 pitches. After the game, SSG's lineup exploded in the later innings to achieve a decisive 11-1 victory, marking their second consecutive win.

After the game, White said, "I'm very happy. I'm glad I made it through 6 innings and that I secured a victory after a long time. I naturally wanted to pitch in the seventh inning, but since this week includes games on Tuesday and Sunday, I thought it was right to finish it here. Last time, I became the losing pitcher after allowing unearned runs, but today I'm the winning pitcher, and I'm even happier that the team won."

So far this season, White has recorded a 5-2 record with an earned run average of 2.40 over 11 games (63⅔ innings) and is eligible to participate as a member of the Korean national team in the World Baseball Classic (WBC) scheduled for March next year. National team manager Ryu Ji-hyeon is also positively considering White's selection for the national team and is closely monitoring his performance.

White remarked, "It's difficult to give a definitive answer right now. There are many variables. It's hard to say at the moment, but if the opportunity arises to participate with Team Korea, it would be a truly honorable thing." He added, laughing, that he could participate as long as his arm condition is fine.
