Go Woo-seok raised his chances of being called up to the Major League by recording an earned run average (ERA) in the 1s on the Triple-A stage, but he unexpectedly received a notification of his release.

MLB.com reported on the 18th (Korean time) that 'Go Woo-seok has been released by the Miami Marlins and has obtained free agent (FA) status.'

After graduating from Chungam High School, Go Woo-seok joined the LG Twins in 2017 and participated in a total of 354 games in the KBO League until 2023, recording 19 wins, 26 losses, and 139 saves with an earned run average (ERA) of 3.18.

In particular, he ranked first in the institutional sector with 42 saves in 2022, and in 2023, he contributed to LG's combined championship with 3 wins, 8 losses, 15 saves, and an earned run average (ERA) of 3.68.

Afterward, Go Woo-seok signed a contract with the San Diego Padres for an aggregates of $4.5 million, challenging the American stage. However, during last year's spring camp, he struggled with 6 appearances, recording 2 losses, 1 hold, and an earned run average (ERA) of 12.60.

In the MLB World Tour Seoul Series, he faltered in a friendly match against his former team LG, with 2 hits (1 home run) allowed in 1 inning, 2 strikeouts, and 2 earned runs, ultimately failing to make the opening roster.

In May, he was traded to Miami but was designated for assignment (DFA) and sent down to the minor leagues, ultimately not stepping onto the big league mound and only appearing in Triple-A and Double-A.

His Triple-A statistics include 16 games, 2 wins, no losses, and an earned run average (ERA) of 4.29. In contrast, in Double-A, he recorded 2 wins, 3 losses, and an earned run average (ERA) of 8.04, leaving somewhat disappointing results.

This season, despite the repercussions of injuries, Go Woo-seok quietly prepared for a comeback. He participated in spring camp as an invited player but missed another chance due to an injury to his right index finger.

After the season started, he quickly passed through the rookie league, low Single-A, and high Single-A, and then immediately entered Triple-A. In Triple-A, he showed potential by performing well with 1 hold and an earned run average (ERA) of 1.59 in 5 games. However, the Miami organization ultimately released Go Woo-seok.

Interest is focused on Go Woo-seok's future moves. It remains to be seen whether he will take on another challenge in the Major League or return to his former team, the LG Twins.
