The Korea Lacrosse Association announced on the 17th that it plans to send youth teams to multiple international competitions in 2025 to expand participation opportunities in recreational sports for young people, supported by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation.
KLA is creating an environment where young people can engage with and enjoy lacrosse through the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's 'Youth Club League' project, while efforts continue to broaden the base of the sport. In particular, in 2025, promising domestic athletes selected through the Youth Club League will have the opportunity to experience the global stage.
The excellent players selected in the 'Korea Lacrosse Youth Club League U19' held in the first half of this year are expected to participate in the Under-20 World Lacrosse Men's Championship, which will be held in Seogwipo, Jeju Island, from August 15 to 24, 2025.
Through this, the athletes are expected to gain world-class competitive experience and significant motivation, along with individual skill improvement.
Players selected through the 'Korea Lacrosse Youth Club League U16' to be held on July 5 will participate in the Asia-Pacific Lacrosse Union (APLU) U16 Championship, which will take place in Seogwipo, Jeju Island, from August 27 to 31, 2025. Players in the U14 and U12 age groups are also planning to compete in the U14•12 Festival scheduled for August 30 to 31.
The Korea Lacrosse Association explained, "International stage experience greatly assists the skill improvement and motivation of youth athletes," adding that "the Youth Club League, which started from recreational sports, is creating a virtuous cycle that leads to age-specific team formation and participation in international competitions."
Meanwhile, KLA plans to organize various activities to enable young people to engage with lacrosse and steadily grow, while aiming to open the future of Korean lacrosse through expanded international exchange.
