Kim Yoon-ha (20) of the Kiwoom Heroes set a new record for the most consecutive losses by a starting pitcher in KBO League history.

On the 17th, Kim started in the match against the SSG Landers in the '2025 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League' at Seoul's Gocheok Sky Dome, recording 5 innings, 6 hits allowed, 4 walks, 1 strikeout, and 3 earned runs in a loss.

After a three-up, three-down first inning, Kim allowed a hit to Park Sung-han on an infield single with two outs in the second inning. However, he handled Lee Ji-young with a ground ball to third base, finishing the inning without major issues. In the third inning, with one out, he gave up a hit to Seok Jung-woo, but struck out Choi Ji-hoon and caught Jeong Joon-jae with a fly ball.

In the fourth inning, Kim walked the leadoff hitter Guillermo Heredia but induced a double play from Han Yoo-seom, quickly getting two outs. However, the crisis continued. He allowed a hit to Ko Myung-jun and walked Park Sung-han, putting him in a 2nd and 3rd base situation with two outs. Ultimately, he gave up an RBI single to Lee Ji-young and also allowed a subsequent RBI single to Kim Sung-wook. Seok Jung-woo caught a fly ball to right field to end the inning with difficulty.

In the fifth inning, Kim walked the leadoff batter Choi Ji-hoon but struck out Jeong Joon-jae and recorded fly outs for both Heredia and Han Yoo-seom, keeping the score unchanged. In the sixth inning, Kim faced the mound again and allowed a hit to leadoff batter Ko Myung-jun and walked Park Sung-han, putting him in a 1st and 2nd base situation with no outs. He ultimately finished his outing being replaced by Park Yoon-seong.

Park Yoon-seong induced a ground ball to the catcher from Lee Ji-young, catching the runner from second base at third, and struck out Kim Sung-wook. However, he allowed a go-ahead single with an RBI from the pinch hitter Choi Joon-woo, increasing Kim Yoon-ha's runs allowed to three. Park Yoon-seong induced a ground ball from Choi Ji-hoon, ending the long inning.

Kim recorded 91 pitches, using fastballs (42 pitches), sliders (23 pitches), forks (11 pitches), curves (9 pitches), and two-seams (6 pitches). His fastest fastball reached a speed of 147 km/h. The strike rate was only 58.2% (53/91). While he managed to keep the game close early on, Kim ultimately became the losing pitcher as Kiwoom lost 11-1.

With this defeat, Kim recorded his 15th consecutive loss as a starter since winning against Doosan on July 25 of last year (7 innings, 2 hits allowed, 3 walks, 4 strikeouts, no earned runs). This is a new record for the most consecutive losses by a starting pitcher in KBO League history.

Additionally, Kim has recorded 10 losses this season without a victory. In KBO League history, the only pitchers to record 10 or more losses without a win in a single season before him were Jang Myung-bu (Binggrae) in 1986, Kim Chung-soo (Lotte) in 1989, Kang Nae-young (SSANGBANGWOOL) in 1999, Kim Won-hyung (SK) in 2000, Kim Young-soo (Lotte) in 2002, Kim Myung-je (Doosan) in 2006, Jose Cafe-yan (Hanwha) in 2010, Jang Si-hwan (Hanwha) in 2021, and Baek Jung-hyun (Samsung) in 2022. Kim Yoon-ha has now joined this list as the 10th pitcher. Among them, Kang Nae-young (0 wins, 10 losses), Jose Cafe-yan (0 wins, 11 losses), and Jang Si-hwan (0 wins, 11 losses) finished the season without a win. Kim Yoon-ha is also facing the threat of an infamous record as the end of the first half of the season approaches without a victory.

It is not solely the responsibility of the starting pitcher for wins and losses. Kiwoom's manager Hong Won-ki noted in a pre-game interview that "victory requires the help of the batting lineup and defense" and added, "What is important is to show consistent performance on the mound. I hope he focuses on his pitching rather than dwelling too much on wins."

Kim fulfilled his role as a starting pitcher by completing 5 innings. It was disappointing that he did not record any outs in the sixth inning, but ultimately, he didn't allow the score to get out of reach by recording 3 earned runs in 5 innings. Unfortunately for Kim Yoon-ha, SSG's starting pitcher Mitch White pitched exceptionally well in this game, recording 6 innings, 3 hits allowed, 1 walk, 1 hit batter, and 6 strikeouts with no earned runs, earning the win. Attention is now focused on whether Kim Yoon-ha, who is suffering from severe misfortune and struggles, can achieve his first victory of the season in his next outing and put an end to this difficult situation.
