A motion for a temporary injunction regarding the confirmation of the election invalidation of Kim Dong-moon, president of the Badminton Korea Association, has been dismissed.
The association announced on the 16th, "The Seoul Eastern District Court dismissed the motion for a temporary injunction filed by former president Kim Taek-kyu against President Kim Dong-moon, stating that 'the position of president shall not be performed until the final ruling on the confirmation of election invalidation'".
Furthermore, it was explained, "This motion for a temporary injunction was filed with the intent of temporarily restricting President Kim Dong-moon's execution of presidential duties. The court stated, 'There is no urgent necessity recognized to suspend the execution of duties' and thus did not accept the motion."
Accordingly, President Kim Dong-moon will now perform his duties normally as the 32nd president of the Badminton Korea Association. Additionally, he will be able to continuously pursue various projects and policies for the stable operation and development of the association.
In conclusion, the association noted, "We respect this court decision and will do our best for transparent and fair operation of the association going forward," adding, "Moreover, we will focus on promoting various policies for the development of the badminton sport and for all players, coaches, and enthusiasts."
President Kim Dong-moon was elected in January with 64 votes out of a total of 155 votes cast in the 32nd association president election. In his inaugural speech, he promised, under the slogan 'Through bold changes and new challenges, Korean badminton will soar again,' to "break away from the old framework." However, former president Kim Taek-kyu filed a motion for suspension of duties and a lawsuit for confirmation of election invalidation, citing violations of election commission regulations.
