Reports have emerged that José Mourinho (62) met directly with Son Heung-min (33, Tottenham) to propose a transfer to Fenerbahçe SK.

The British outlet 'Triball Football' reported on the 16th (Korean time) that "José Mourinho met with Son Heung-min and attempted to persuade him to transfer to Fenerbahçe SK." This information is cited from Turkish journalist Yavuz Sabuncuoglu.

According to reports, Son Heung-min is known to have recently met with Mourinho and is gradually becoming open to the idea of a transfer to Fenerbahçe.

The Spanish media 'Fichajes' reported that "Fenerbahçe is preparing to make a bold investment to acquire Son Heung-min, planning to offer a substantial contract amounting to €12 million (approximately 19 billion won), which is slightly higher than his current salary at Tottenham."

Mourinho established a mentor-student relationship with Son Heung-min while leading Tottenham from 2019 to 2021. During that time, Son Heung-min enjoyed a breakout performance, thriving under aggressive tactics. Under Mourinho's management, Son Heung-min recorded 29 goals and 25 assists in 70 matches, showcasing his best form, and Mourinho also assessed Son Heung-min as "one of the most important players in Tottenham's history."

Based on this experience, Mourinho is actively promoting Son Heung-min's move to Turkey.

If the transfer materializes, Son Heung-min could start a new career at a club with a chance of advancing to the Champions League while maintaining a salary level similar to what he currently receives. The potential transfer to Fenerbahçe emerges as a compelling alternative that offers both the competitiveness of the European stage and the opportunity to work with a familiar coach, distinct from a mere 'Middle Eastern move.'

Meanwhile, Tottenham does not wish to let go of their captain, Son Heung-min, but analyses indicate that the club might change its stance if a significant offer is made, given that there is one year left on his contract.

Son Heung-min's future will be closely tied to Tottenham's restructuring process and is expected to draw significant attention in this summer's transfer market.
