"We will buy alternative candidates cheaply."

The prominent British media outlet, The Guardian, reported on the 15th (Korean time) that "Tottenham Hotspur is expected to sign Matthias Tell permanently for a transfer fee of about 35 million euros (approximately 55.3 billion won)."

The publication noted, "The contract is expected to be finalized within the next 48 hours, and Tottenham had paid a rental fee of 10 million euros to Bayern Munich to temporarily acquire Tell ahead of the second half of the Premier League season." Including the 10 million euros already paid, the total transfer aggregates to 45 million euros (approximately 71 billion won).

Tell is a versatile attacking resource with quick feet and the ability to finish with both feet, showing potential at a young age on the adult stage. However, he has lower physical utility as a central forward and lacks dribbling retention and speed maintenance in on-the-ball situations as a lateral resource.

He possesses strengths in space penetration and individual breakthroughs, but requires tactical refinement in defensive transitions, organic linkages with teammates, and passing selection. Overall, he is a player with significant room for development, and if he clarifies his positional role and compensates for his weaknesses, he could aim for a starting position. He is also mentioned as a possible replacement for Son Heung-min in the future.

The Guardian reported, "Tell has played in 13 league matches (of which he started 11) and scored two goals, although he did not participate in the final where they claimed victory in the UEFA Europa League against Manchester United. This victory was Tottenham's first major trophy in 17 years."

It continued, "Tell is expected to be the first signing under new manager Thomas Frank, but the practical aspects of this contract were already completed before Frank's appointment. Frank is also considering reuniting with Bryan Mbeumo, with whom he worked at Brentford. Brentford has valued Mbeumo at over £60 million (approximately 111.4 billion won), but Tottenham has not yet made an official offer."

Mbeumo has been a key player for the team since he was acquired from Troyes for about £5.8 million (approximately 10.8 billion won) in August 2019 when Brentford was in the Championship. Manchester United has also shown interest in acquiring Mbeumo, but a proposal of £5 million (approximately 10.2 billion won) was rejected. Brentford is in no rush to sell players."

It added, "Tottenham expects that manager Frank could play an important role in persuading Mbeumo."

In addition, Manchester United, a competitor for Mbeumo's acquisition, is pulling out. The British newspaper Daily Mail reported, "Manchester United is expected to withdraw from the Mbeumo transfer race. Brentford rejected United's initial offer. Additionally, manager Frank's joining Tottenham has led that team to enter the competition."

The Daily Mail stated, "Tottenham is being more proactive in pursuing Mbeumo. Meanwhile, Manchester United is expected to turn to other candidates. United stated they would not pay excessive transfer fees to avoid repeating past mistakes," adding, "To avoid paying exorbitant transfer fees, an alternative candidate lineup has already been completed."
