The Hanwha Eagles missed the opportunity to return to first place after a month.

On the 14th, Hanwha recorded a 2-2 draw in the 11th inning against LG in the 9th match of the 2025 KBO League held at Daejeon Hanwha Life Eagles Park. LG held onto first place, and Hanwha remained 0.5 games behind.

Hanwha had 10 hits including 4 doubles, 6 walks, and 3 errors by the opponent, but managed only 2 runs. They hit 4 double plays and were thrown out at home twice. The lack of concentration from the batting lineup was disappointing.

Manager Kim Kyung-moon said before the game, "We had a tough time against their nice pitcher, Im Chan-kyu, so we need to hit well today. Ponce should do his best, and there should be good game content that the fans expect." However, Hanwha was unable to take down LG's strong starter, Im Chan-kyu.

In the bottom of the first inning, leadoff batter Lee Won-seok reached base on a walk. Ha Ju-suk hit a ground ball to first base that resulted in a reverse double play. Afterward, Moon Hyun-bin hit a single, and Roh Si-hwan contributed a double to left field, creating a scoring opportunity with runners on second and third. However, Chae Eun-seong struck out swinging.

In the second inning, Hanwha's leadoff batter Lee Jin-young reached base on a throwing error by the third baseman. With two outs and a runner on third, Hwang Young-mook drew a straight walk. With two outs and runners on first and third, Lee Won-seok struck out swinging, wasting the opportunity.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, with two outs, Lee Won-seok reached base after being hit by a pitch. Lee Won-seok successfully stole second base, and the catcher's throw went into the outfield, allowing him to advance to third safely. With two outs and a runner on third, a curveball from Im Chan-kyu got past the catcher. The runner on third attempted to score, but the ball stopped near the catcher, who quickly retrieved it. Lee Won-seok hesitated in the middle and was ultimately tagged out at home.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, trailing 0-1, leadoff batter Chae Eun-seong hit a single, followed by a stolen base by substitute Lee Sang-hyuk. An RBI double by Ahn Chi-hong, a single by Choi Jae-hun, and a surprise bunt single by Hwang Young-mook allowed Hanwha to take a 2-1 lead. An error on the throw from the pitcher compounded the situation, leading to a chance with one out and runners on first and third. Lee Won-seok hit the first pitch from new pitcher Kim Jin-sung, but it turned into a ground ball double play, preventing further scoring.

In the bottom of the eighth inning, after one out, Moon Hyun-bin walked, and Roh Si-hwan drew a walk after an 11-pitch battle, putting runners on first and second. In the scoring chance, Kim Tae-yean hit an infield fly out on the first pitch to the second baseman, and Lee Jin-young grounded out to the shortstop, ending the inning.

In the bottom of the 10th inning, tied at 2-2, Lee Do-yoon created a chance with a double to the right field after one out. Moon Hyun-bin walked on an automatic intentional walk. LG changed their pitcher to Park Myeong-geun. With one out and runners on first and second, Roh Si-hwan hit a ground ball double play, missing the chance to win.

There was also a chance in the bottom of the 11th inning. Leadoff batter Kim Tae-yean reached base with a single, but Lee Jin-young's sacrifice bunt attempt turned into a double play from the pitcher to second base to first base.

Ahn Chi-hong created the last chance with a double to the left field. With two outs and a runner on second, Lee Jae-won hit a single to left, but the runner on second was tagged out due to the left fielder's home throw. It was a short hit, and the left fielder's throw was accurate and one-bounced.

On the mound, starter Ponce (6 innings, 1 run), Park Sang-won (1 inning, no runs) was followed by Han Seung-hyeok (⅓ inning, 1 hit, 1 walk, 1 run) and Kim Beom-su (0 innings, 1 walk, 1 hit batsman), which was disappointing. Closer Kim Seo-hyeon allowed a sacrifice fly that tied the game with one out in the eighth inning but was responsible until the ninth. Ju Hyun-sang pitched two perfect innings in extra innings.
