Tottenham Hotspur is finally set to acquire Mathys Tel (20, Bayern Munich).

The British outlet The Athletic reported on the 15th (Korea time) that "Tel is expected to leave Bayern for a permanent transfer to Tottenham," and added that "the two clubs have entered the stage of agreement on initial terms worth 35 million euros (approximately 55.3 billion won), including a potential bonus of up to 10 million euros (approximately 15.8 billion won).

Tel, who is equipped with quick feet and two-footed shooting ability, is a promising 20-year-old who stands out in the France U-21 national team. He has proven his potential with 16 goals in 83 Bundesliga matches, but weaknesses have been pointed out in his physical utilization and on-the-ball dribbling. However, his ability to penetrate space and straight-line breaks has already drawn comparisons to Son Heung-min.

Tottenham views Tel as a key puzzle piece in the "post-Son Heung-min" project. The former manager Ange Postecoglou stated that "this is not just a six-month signing," and Tel, who made his entrance in London on loan in the second half of last season, rose to prominence in the Europa League with 3 goals in 20 matches. His contract included a permanent transfer option worth 55 million euros.

However, Tottenham has succeeded in reducing the price by nearly 20 million euros. Even under the new manager Frank, the interest in Tel remains unchanged. His joining ignites a reshuffling of Tottenham's attacking line. Amid speculation about Son Heung-min's future, there is a prevailing outlook that Tel can be immediately utilized as a "multi-resource" player who can operate across the left, right, and central positions.

In particular, it appears that Tottenham, at a crossroads of generational change, aims to reduce its reliance on Son Heung-min by securing a forward in his early twenties in advance.

Meanwhile, interest in Tel in the market has been high. Manchester United and Chelsea have consistently pursued loans and transfers this winter, but Tottenham's "first mover" advantage has borne fruit.

Tel, who was the youngest scorer in Bayern's history, is now opening a new chapter in London. There is growing interest in whether he can showcase his skills alongside Son Heung-min on the Champions League stage, stating, "Winning the Europa League is just the beginning."
