Trent Alexander-Arnold's interview has once again stirred the hearts of Liverpool fans.
The British 'Tribuna' reported on the 15th (Korea time) that 'Trent Alexander-Arnold said he prefers to play alongside Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior rather than face them.'
Earlier, Real Madrid officially announced on the 12th through its club website that 'Alexander-Arnold has signed a contract with Real Madrid. The England native will be with Real Madrid for the next six seasons.'
It also reported that 'Trent Alexander-Arnold is now a player for Real Madrid. President Florentino Perez welcomed him. He signed a contract to play for Real Madrid for the next six seasons.'
Now Alexander-Arnold will wear the number 12 jersey at Real Madrid. He received a model of the stadium, a watch, and a jersey with his name and the number 12 inscribed on it from President Perez in front of numerous UEFA Champions League trophies.
Alexander-Arnold also successfully passed the medical test. Real Madrid explained by sharing a photo of him smiling during the examination, stating, 'He completed the medical test at the Sanitas University Hospital in La Moraleja.'
Alexander-Arnold was one of the defenders that Liverpool took pride in. Since joining the Liverpool youth team in 2004, he has never changed his uniform. Alexander-Arnold has played as Liverpool's starting right-back, based on his tremendous kicking power, and has experienced the team's golden era. He also led the team as vice-captain during the 2024-2025 season.
His loyalty to Liverpool has been demonstrated multiple times. After being appointed vice-captain of Liverpool in the summer of 2023, Alexander-Arnold stated, 'My goal has always been to be the captain of Liverpool. Right now, it's part of that process.' Naturally, all Liverpool fans envisioned a future where they would continue to be with Alexander-Arnold.
Despite the contract expiring in the summer of 2025, no new news had emerged. Last October, he remarked, 'Winning the Ballon d'Or is better than winning the Champions League.' This led frustrated Liverpool fans to start booing Alexander-Arnold at the stadium, calling him a traitor.
Ultimately, the anxious expectations of the fans were not misplaced. Alexander-Arnold had already been regarded as a foregone conclusion to join Real Madrid for months and has now donned the Real Madrid uniform without any changes. He shed tears in his last game for Liverpool, but it wasn't enough to turn back the hearts of the departed fans.
Although the fans' feelings were already heated, Alexander-Arnold's interview poured more fuel on the fire. According to reports, he said of his new teammates Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior, 'I am much happier to be playing alongside them than facing them now. Both players are world-class.'
He continued, 'It's nice to compete against such players, but I want to play together even more. I expect to learn from them every day during training and become a better player myself.'
Not stopping there, he pledged, 'It’s extremely exciting to play alongside them in the weekend league and on the big stage. I think we can quickly establish good chemistry and I will do my best to record many assists.'
