Korean professional baseball team Samsung Lions foreign pitcher Ariel Hurado has been given a chance to recharge.

Samsung removed Hurado from the first-team roster ahead of their home game against the KT Wiz on the 15th at Daegu Samsung Lions Park.

Hurado has made 15 appearances this season, recording 6 wins, 6 losses, and an earned run average of 2.99. After achieving his first complete game shutout in his KBO debut against the NC Dinos on the 8th, he collapsed in the game against KT on the 14th, going 4⅓ innings with 9 hits allowed (2 home runs), 2 walks, 6 strikeouts, and 7 earned runs.

Ahead of the game on the 15th, manager Park Jin-man met with reporters and noted Hurado’s performance the previous day, saying, “It can’t always be good. That can definitely happen. He just needs to not do that in the next game.” He also added, “He has pitched a lot lately. I am removing him from the first-team roster to give him a chance to take a break.”

Following the announcement of Danny Reyes, who sustained a minor fracture in his right foot, being placed on waivers, a vacancy has emerged in the starting rotation with Hurado’s removal from the first-team roster. Hwang Dong-jae and Yang Chang-seop will step in as replacement starters. The ‘ace of the blue blood’ Won Tae-in will make the starting appearance in the home game against Doosan BASS on the 17th.

An unexpected injured player has emerged. Infielder Shim Jae-hoon has been removed from the first-team roster after being struck in the lip during bunting practice.

Outfielder Kim Sung-yoon, who was sidelined from the team due to a right hamstring fascia injury during an away game against the LG Twins on May 30, has returned to the first-team stage.

Kim Sung-yoon joined the first team after participating in a futures game against the Army team on the morning of the 15th at Gyeongsan Ballpark. Manager Park Jin-man noted, “His condition is fine. Depending on the situation, I will substitute him in today.”

Catcher Kim Do-hwan, who is showcasing a fierce batting average of .323 (30 hits in 93 at-bats) and 18 RBIs in the futures league, has received a call-up to the first team.

Meanwhile, Samsung has arranged its starting lineup with center fielder Kim Ji-chan, shortstop Lee Jae-hyun, left fielder Koo Ja-wook, first baseman Lewin Diaz, third baseman Jeon Byeong-woo, second baseman Ryu Ji-hyuk, designated hitter Park Byeong-ho, right fielder Lee Seong-kyu, and catcher Kim Jae-sung. Choi Won-tae will take the mound as the starting pitcher.
